Out now: id's Rage storms onto PC

As I said before, Rage is quite a looker. Starting today, however, you can do more than just look at it. You can play it (out now on Steam)!
What's the early verdict? Like other recent games, it appears id opted to ship first and patch later. PC Gamer reports laggy textures and low framerates while stating the "underlying game is rather good." To whit: "id haven’t strayed far from their roots," they said in their review, "but they still know how to make a top-quality shooter. Simple, satisfying fun."
USA Today shared similar remarks: "This latest game delivers a huge, exhilarating and gratifying adventure - but a few technical glitches and missing multiplayer modes prevent it from being a perfect pick."
While praising the racing sections, mini-games, and visuals of the game, Ars Technica was overall disappointed. "Rage is creatively and mechanically bankrupt... Imagine Borderlands with the fun stripped out, or Fallout without actual choice, characters, or consequences... This is a great tech demo for the engine... competent, but never special."
Ars seems to be the only current outlier, however. Rage is currently trending at an average review score of 80%, according to Metacritic.

From that screen shot i'd say it looks like a non-cartoon-y version of borderlands. Revolver and a midget with a mace, plus the general dilapidation of the place.
Looks cool, i'll have to check out after the fix those problems.
