Not dead, just inclusive: PC gaming on more machines
February 27th, 2012
Recent talk of PC games dying "was correct," says EA CCO Richard Hilleman, "but only because people had defined PC gaming so narrowly."
In other words, PC gaming should include low-powered laptops as much as Alienware rigs, he says. "You're gonna see us embrace machine specs that are further down. The answer is, don’t raise your specs so high that you’re disconnected from the majority of machines out there – especially laptops." (Case in point, the first Crysis)
The thinking certainly makes sense: Cast wider nets to appeal to an even larger player pool to ensure maximum and continuous development resources to the platform. Or as Hilleman puts it, "PC is the biggest potential gaming platform. [In terms of] total number of people playing on it, it wins."
At the same time, I hope this line of thinking means "games that scale" as much as it does inclusiveness. That way, everybody can get in on the action, while enthusiast and pro gamers can still push the envelop, both visually and performance-wise.
What do you think?

I agree, pc is a potential platform. we need more pc exclusive games, and wich do not demand the best graphics cards or 6 Gb of ram

games like crysis and battlefield with high graphics are amazing on PC. But becuase of how much they require not everyone can play them. But becuase there light on consoel and it's an easy pop in and play, again it's console

Consoles never appealed to me...I've seen games tested on big LED TV screens (via gaming consoles) in the mall and they look very nice...but the "feel" on the PC is just different.

But ultimately I agree that gaming is far from dead, as long as games like LoL are around, where just about anyone with a gig of RAM can play, haha!

Wow nice info there, then I guess I must have been misdirected by inaccurate source of information lol xD cause my previous source states around 60% of Battlefield 3 selling was on PC lol

Nope once Battlefield came on console the BF series was always sold more on Xbox then anywhere else. BF has been huge on console for a shooter especially on Xbox right there with halo and COD
Except BF2 that was the record BF game and it's title held on PC until BF3. While BFBC held the console record until once again BF3
