Diablo III: "The servers are busy. Please try again later."
May 15th, 2012
Guess what happens when the most preordered PC game of all time arrives, especially since it requires a persistent internet connect, even when playing offline?
You get this:

Diablo III isn't the first high-profile PC game to be marred by connection issues at launch. But according to the official Blizzard feed, there continue to be server maintenance issues plaguing the game at the time of writing.
Understandably, eager players are butthurt. Just read these reactionary user reviews to get a taste.
For those who have managed to spend some time with the game, the feedback has been generally positive, with excption to the online DRM. Here's what one player had to say: "Pure addictive, bloody fun."
That said, I chuckled upon reading this World Exclusive review. In any case, for those who have been able to access the game, what do you think so far? Met your expectations? Below them? Surpassed them? Let's hear it, people!

Stay classy Activision Blizzard, loyal fans won't always be loyal if snags like this happen. Luckily they don't make too many new games for people to actually notice.

This was not the case for a single game Blizzard has released recently. Not for: Diablo III, Starcraft II, or even World of Warcraft when it was released!
Every-time on release day they have had to take battle.net down for emergency maintenance. Diablo IIIs launch is smoother then their previous ones, but again Diablo III is not an MMORPG and should not require as much server interaction to make it work. Considering the massive amount of sever infrastructure Blizzard has to maintain for World of Warcraft and Starcraft II I would expect they would know what they are doing by now. It's something we all put up with way too much in the Video Game industry.

I agree with you. But even if we don't want to put up with it, what can we do to make companies like Blizzard to stop doing this? It's their game. They know people want to play it. People will be mad about the maintenance but they won't quit playing. Blizzard is in control and we as gamers must acquiesce.
