League of Legends is one of the more popular PC games right now. It's no World of Warcraft, but it's certainly one of the most played top 10 games today.
What makes the game unique, despite being a DotA clone, is the price of admission. It's free for most -- paid for by the more compulsive gamer who likes to collect stuff.
Like this guy commenting on PC Gamer: "After doing some quick math, I found that if you wanna buy every single champion with real money, it will cost you around $300, maybe less."
Of course, you don't have to use real money to buy better characters; you can use in-game rewards to do the same.
Like this guy: "I have been playing for more than 10 months and I haven't spent a dime." Or this guy: "I've been playing the game a long time and I've yet to pay money for a champion. I'm currently missing only 4-5."
What about you? Have you paid to play League of Legends? If so, how much have you burned? If not, how does the game compare to other freemium games in your opinion?
