Microsoft announces "return to PC gaming" with new Age of Empires and Flight-sim games
August 20th, 2010
It was a good week for PC games, thanks to announcements of Homefront, Tropica 4, and From Dust. A pair of equels were also announced, including Dawn of War 2: Retribution and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. But in unveiling Age of Empires Online and Flight, Microsoft seems to be making good on its promise to "return to PC gaming."
“We’re bringing powerful, inventive gaming experiences to the Windows-based PC,” boasted Microsoft’s Phil Spencer. “Reinventing these iconic franchises with social, shared experiences at their core marks the beginning of our return to PC gaming in bold new ways.”
I’m not sure aeronautic remakes and freemium gaming are particularly bold at this point. But Microsoft’s announcements this week are a tangible start, as was promised in June. What do you think of Microsoft’s revitalized PC efforts so far?
