Minecraft is killing it, making up to $350,000 a day
September 29th, 2010
Here's one way to make a buck selling PC games.
Although free to play in basic mode dubbed Classic, Minecraft charges $10 for the privilege to play a more robust and regularly updated version called Alpha. And gamers are eating it up: hook, line and sinker.
On September 22 alone, the paid version sold an average of one copy every three seconds, clearing a whopping $350,000 in 24 hours. No where near the millions StarCraft II netted on launch day. But keep in mind, Minecraft is a one man show.
"It all feels unreal," says Swedish creator Markus Persson. "I thought I could make a living from the game, but I didn't expect to become rich."
Not bad for an aspiring indie developer.

And thats exactly the problem. You have to try the paid version to see why its awesome. Yes, classic is only fun for that long but the Alpha version is much better, in the sense that you have mobs, and you have to harvest every block and make tools for harvesting. If you have 10 bucks lying around I recommend you to try it. Or look up some youtube videos (Seannaners for example :))
