Poll: What's the most you've ever spent on a rig?

Indeed Alienware is expensive, but you certainly pay for quality. Dell Tech Support has been so very helpful for me and my m17x is great.

There are definitely certain times when you pay a lot for the brand name though...Area 51 ALX :p

I agree that you do pay for quality. I bought the Alienware Aurora ALX and absolutely love it. It is really well put together in my opinion and has been silky smooth and completely glitch free. I must say though that I don't understand the price jump for the Area 51 ALX from the Area 51. I don't see many extra benefits besides the anodized aluminum case. If you add the extra money you would spend to the Area 51, you would have a pretty Awesome rig. But who am I kidding, I went the extra mile for the ALX package on the Aurora. But there WERE significant differences.

Bought myself an upgraded m17x. Was well worth the price tag, no doubt.

Just as a side note on this, anodization costs a LOT, at least for a Mac, about $1000 for a MacBook.(*snicker*) Which might explain the price jump, but then that leaves me baffled because my m17x is anodized also (beautiful) and it didn't cost much more than any other gaming laptop would... but if I had the cash to get and Alienware Desktop (which I guess I did once since I got a laptop...) I would most definitely go for the ALX no matter what, that thing is so beautiful.

8000 euro incl. monitor

Mine was 550 euro but it was on sale, normally it cost 700. My monitor was another 200 then. So about 800-900.

I usually self build always loved Alienware stuff though the cases are beautiful and the company does a lot for pc gamers as well which no one can complain about....

Built my own but constantly adding to it, started off around the $900 mark but in the year since probably sunk another $500-$600 into it. Really want an SSD but resisting the urge to splurge on one!

my dad works with computer software and databases for Carnival Cruise Lines. He saw this poll... His response was simply, "the most expensive thing I ever bought that was a computer was about $817,000 containing about 20 terabytes."
