Underwhelmed: Less than half renewing Star Wars Old Republic, poll finds

Disclaimer: I will no longer be singing this game's praises.

To be honest, the endgame is what's wrong. Everyone coming over from other games expected a clear and complete endgame that was fun. That is not the case.

The gear grind is more horrid than many others, much of the endgame gear looks terribad, many of the encounters are over-tuned for entry-level 50s, there are many bugs.

I still love the game, but it's currently falling down on its endgame. I will bet that most of those 39% have made it to 50 and don't care for rolling alts etc.

Though as I have just realised that is a third-party poll (stupid of me to think otherwise) that is probably scewed in favour of those quitting - as they will feel more obliged to make their voices heard.

TOR was never going to kill WoW. Only Blizzard will kill WoW, but it's a good game that will be around for years to come.

For me it was because there was an endgame : /. I would of liked to see just another knights of the old republic then try to take starwars and convert it into an mmo, I think that while there was the story driven questing with the cut scenes and what not it was just still to mmo guest grindy. I also missed the stop and plan out your attacks that was in the knights of the old republic, but, for what it is this game is exactly what I expected it to be, a starwars skinned mmo, I think people who just bought it out of the hype and didn't actually look into it to see if it was something they wanted to play are the ones quitting.

The game didn't have much of an endgame I've been told. IF there aren't fun things to do when you're at max level, either you make a new toon or you quit. Obviously, people went toward the latter.

This is all too true. I made it to 50 pretty early on and and I am NOT a person for alts, and yet have made more and more chars trying to find it fun.

39% quitting ?! I thought that WoW with Bioware story will be epic.Im still waiting for GW2 and its new systtems ;)

Surprising numbers here (even if this is just one poll). Will be interesting to see what TOR will do and whether it can gain momentum.

This. Quite a few people, at least from what I perceive, bought this game expecting a WoW killer or something. It's just a Star Wars themed MMO, nothing revolutionary.

Still think it has potential as I assume WOW started with the same uphill battle of trying to please the masses.

I don't enjoy paying $60 dollars for a game and then being told that I have to pay more money to just play the game, seriously? I heard the game was not even that entertaining as some of the old ones were. If you asked me the peope who'd created the game would get a bigger player base with no subscrition, better graphics and better gameplay. They could've done better.

I am disappointed with those numbers, but I don't think this is cause for alarm.

Agreed.

Not everybody that starting playing the game at launch will keep playing, nor will everybody that plans on playing buy it upon launch. To call the game a failure because of an outside poll that certainly doesn't have access to all the statistics is pretty ridiculous. The game hasn't even been out for very long, and where the game will go will only be evident in the not so near future.

A sample size of 117 isn't enough for a statistical inference like this.

the Game is great....Then endgames is no different from wow so i dont know why you are complaining....and gear grind really? u have to be terribad to be stuck in a gear grind....and lol this poll is stupid 117 voters....there are 260 people in one instance of the fleet at one time....this poll in no way reflects anything....my Guild of 300 member are all renewing there this poll is mute....dont believe everything you hear....and yes PAY TO PLAY is the only way to make a good mmo....if your too cheap FPS is that way ------> and FYI please do research b4 opening your mouth....there has only been one version of the game...so the dude saying its not as entertaining as the last one probably doesnt even know what an MMO is....now time to end rant and go hit battlemaster 2k to go......good day...

I don't know why everyone is hating on the game it's just released and with every patch it will get better. Paying 15 bucks a month isn't bad considering the F2P games get you buy having to buy stuff from market's or such so there really not free. If you want a good game the will progress into the epic game everyone wants a release then the dev's need money to make that happen so I feel the 15 bucks a month is a small price to play

That sucks... i know alot of people that were very excited for this to come out.

I like the game so far. First time ever I am enjoying playing alts as the storyline changes.

End game is not that good. I like PVP and everything but my guild is all 50ies and we almost all got champion gear, and I think afer battlemaster we all will just quit.

There is simply nothing to do after that. Our server already seems lost a lot of people, have to wait for WZ's to pop.

To be fair, the Warzone thing is probably due to the new 50 bracket.

I think a lot of people quit, every hotball is against republic now(I am republic), seems like empire just stopped quing.

it need more fast paced action thts wat star wars is all about its to slow paced to me
