Top Team Fortress 2 Movies of 2010
April 14th, 2011

Son of Dad has but together an awesome list of the best Team Fortress 2 movies of 2010. He has selected five movies from each month and then made a top 5 list for the whole year. 2010 was a massive year for Team Fortress 2 movies. With the pldx tool making movies more accessible to the normal competitive player there have been an influx of Team Fortress Frag Movies. After 1056 posts in the TF2 Frag Vid List on Ozfortress, over 720 topics on the ETF2L Movie Forum, 6000 posts in the ETF2L Frag Clip Thread and over 240 featured movies on PLDX I have collected what I believe are the best 5 movies from each month in 2010. It was a pain to get every single pldx, youtube and download link but I tried my best. I hope this will help uncover some hidden gems and add to your ever growing frag video folder :) Best of 2010 - TOP 5 Best of January Best of February Best of March Best of April Best of May Best of June Best of July Best of August Best of September Best of October Best of November Best of December
January
January picks up straight off from 2009 with some of the great movies to set the standard of 2010 YoYoTech by Decap #Torn Productions There was no bigger name in the movie making than decap and torn productions after YoYotech was released. This great movie set high standards for future clan movies. It also started the trend of the thirdperson freezecam... rEJ Blows, Here's Why by jem This movie really came out of nowhere with some great syncing to a great variety of songs. Editing was clean and paddlesack at the end is classic. Reflections by subtitled Subtitled's 2nd movie was the beginning of his great streak of movies in 2010. Such an underrated movie with some ripping scout clips. Rocket Art by glongas Maybe its the solly clips, maybe its the rock song, but I really enjoyed this movie featuring Jan. Insomnia by pupsik Classy intro followed by some classy demoman sprees edited to a not so classy song.
February
Feburary brings us what was an instant classic and brings us the first competition in the TEK-9 AMD Phenom II Minimovie Contest. 7 brothers who aren't brothers by torden The alternative theme of the movie draws some inspiration from Fight Club and brings us an instant classic. Complaints about the shakycam at the end had torden release the movie again with less shake. Unknown Heroes - zipk0 The highest rated movie from the TEK-9 contest, Unknown Heroes sports a lot of stylish transitions and editing with a rocking demoman to end it. Project 4 by morf Morf brings us a movie with flashy overlays that pleases the eyes of most in the TF2 community. *cough*Europe*cough* Dancin by SpecialK Ah, the infamous SpecialK shows us what he is made of. Is his special brand of movie making enough to justify -1 60fps on every movie on pldx? You decide... Random by Cla Didn't make it into the contest because of time limitations. Picks up from his last movie Like This, more Linkin Park and more flashes.
March
There are some big names to appear this month, with one making his last TF2 movie. Unfortunately, it wasn't Cla :D :D Alienware Arena Bigfoot Killer Edge Challenge by decap #Torn Productions Decap made some dough for this movie, and he deserved it. The movie was a bit blue but that suits the emotion of the community when he said this was his last TF2 movie. (I couldn't give a shit <3) Meatshot 8) Vol. 3 by daniel MEATSHOT! Since when was TF2 Red vs Teal? You can't mess up the frag portion of the Meatshot series, but the editing is something to discuss. The Way of Samurai by buranik A personal favourite of mind. It tells a great story...I'm not gonna ruin it :) That's ART! by Cla Flashy jumps + Flashy editing = Win (in europe) Apocalypse Gaming TF2 Frag Video by Conebone A clan movie that is pretty good if it didn't look so much like a YYT clone.
April
April brings an end to ESEA Season 5 and brings on highlight videos of the top NA clans. Muscle Milk and Moolians by subtitled #Torn Productions Subtitled goes large with this movie, focussing on team oriented clips and some sweet editing to compliment. A movie that actually makes me go "Mmm..." everytime i watch it. compLexity ESEA Season 5 by morf #Demofilm Studios Morf is at it again. Less flash and more of a cinematic feel. Too bad some of the "cinematic" camera angles have been used before. HolyShit ! Team Fragmovie #2 by Peio In between all the NA clan movies come one from Europe. A sequel movie to HolyShit!, this movie shows off some pretty sweet clips, especially the rocket jumping pyro. Silhouette #1 by KuroTs #Sol!d Studio Its rare to get a frag movie from Asia, but most have been top quality and its mainly due to KuroTs. A great scout/sniper music with some killer syncing at the end (literally). Pandemic TF2 – ESEA Invite Season 5 by Justin White The last of the major clans from ESEA, this movie was good but suffered from not being able to see anything.
May
May brings one of the best individual frag movies and another individual frag movie from an ozfortress player. Fail Gamesense: A registered EXFANE Trademark by iQue iQue returns in 2010 with probably the best individual frag movies in TF2. Great thirdperson angles, great syncing and polished off with the great frags of Exfane it was an instant success. Can't Stop! by Leshey's Pictures An underrated movie featuring bon, it has a creative intro and the fancy metallic 3D text that everyone loves (i do at least) Australia vs New Zealand - Trailer by bonez Australia vs New Zealand. The match prob didn't live up to the epic atmosphere this trailer sets up, but this trailer is just a fantastic movie to psych up the ozfortress community. Nice spray on granary last... Ghostwriters by Cla Europe went crazy when this was released. And then someone found out the credits were ripped off from a CSS movie. Orange Thunder by Nossie Nossie released his first full length movie featuring Shotz from clan foxy. I had a hand in helping nossie and shotz, the final result is very pleasing.
June
Nothing too exceptional came from this month. This was the beginning of a slump in TF2 movies in 2010. HEYDAY by grid Grid was getting into his 3D work and it shows in this movie, which won the apofig movie contest. When will people stop using Linkin Park? Fiery stabBer 2 by ber The title was fancy and it suits the odd coupling of Spy and Pyro in this individual movie. Tekken 5 music...really? (Soulcalibur is a better game) Maniac Vol.3 HAOW by ForzaEagLE Apparently, Maniac Vol.3 is the 4th installment in the Maniac series. Right...enjoy the demoman clips. On and On | French community fragmovie by Chris A TF2 player from UK makes a French community movie...right. Simple editing, good frags set to FRENCH RAP!!!!!! Highbird by KuroTs #Sol!d Studios KuroTs is back. This movie may be called Highbird but totally went under everyone's radar, i only found an extra youtube clip and that's it.
July
Slump... Untitled Movie by Kel A sniper movie that is synced well, but does this guy hack? Prob not, but that doesn't stop the community asking. daniel and slardel 2 by daniel A sequel to the scout duo's first movie, this movie has some great clips but I have no idea why people are obsessed with night-time skyboxes. Apocalypse Gaming TF2 Pub vs. Pro by Conebone Conebone does a nice job to highlight the first Pub vs Pro match set up by AG. Videocopilot nametags will never disappear. Rapture - The movie by Rapture This is that slump i was talking about. This is just a stock standard movie with your every day syncing and smoothing. Boss Defur by jukebox Medic movies are hard to come by, and this is a small treat for all those medics I fail to protect. Enjoy your 2 minutes of glory <3
August
I feel a pulse! Things are starting to get exciting :) Dizzinism by Kurz #Sol!d Studios Sol!d Studios is underrated, but keep produces great movies. First time TF2 Movie maker Kurz comes in with a demoman movie that will give you a dizzying high (i r smat) Assembly Summer LAN 2010 by bonez Bonez always makes great trailers, but you should never lie in your movies. Euro's CANNOT airstrafe. Awesome by Ragard More known for his random clips, Ragard produces a quirky movie that really suits TF2. A fresh breath of air from some of the attempted epic movies. Casus Belli Fragmovie #2 by m-ex Sequels tend to be better since the editor gets a grasp of other programs. The use of After Effects in the titles gives a nice touch. This movie is split into 3 segments, with each segment having 2 parts...that makes 6 players!! Earth, Whale and Fire by illii The titles says it all. Actually, the title makes no sense but the movie is fun to watch.
September
TF2 movies are back in full swing and September brought so many great movies. It also brought us the second TEK-9 movie contest: The Sapphire Movie Contest. Fanom by subtitled #Torn Productions I love this movie. Every time I watch it again I appreciate the syncing, the pacing, the frag, the planning of this movie more and more. I have sent a letter to Subtitled with my sperm, hoping he will accept my babies Fanom was the first movie to be featured in TF2blog, which is now a feat most movie makers are striving to achieve. Copyleft by Cla Cla is back, and managed to enter this TEK9 contest. Guess what? He came third. Quite a feat considering the COD4 bias of TEK9. n1steve2: 2steve 2furious by bonez A sequel to the first n1steve, bonez continues to pump out great movies like a japanese factory. XEN Team Movie by grid Grid is back with a firmer grasp on 3D mechanics and he shows off 3D models and such in a movie that suffers from blinding CC. Probably could have done better in the TEK9 contest without the CC. NO NAME 2 by siN Overrated in my opinion, this movie is just the culmination of all TF2 editing tricks in the textbook. But if you know what Europe wants, you deliver them.
October
Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes 2 by Psycho < 3 One up from the pldx skyboxes is the animated skybox! Great scout/sniper clips. hcaz by exhaust This could've been a classic if it didn't suffer from frags at 200ms and the dreaded red X's from valve's update. Tang: Heart Breaker by Tang Pyro movies. I love them for some reason. Prob the only pldx effect that is excessively over the top. Project Drawn (Electric Mix) by Son of Dad (Rock Mix) I'm man enough to say that my movie was a pretty big flop. Tried too much. POW! by LuckyLuke I appreciated the creativity in this movie, but he goes into an invariable orgy of TF2 movies with the same ideas later on...
November
TF2 Lan Trilogy - i40 by BoneS BoneS is like an eclipse. He rarely releases movies but everytime he does, there is a simulataneous ejaculation from TF2 players all around the globe. The highlight of the movie is the fantastic shoutcasting by byte. 2nd movie to be featured on TF2blogs. Yz50'd by iQue iQue produces more of his quality work. Doesn't introduce anything particular new but why change too much when everything you've made before is applauded by the TF2 community? Mission by bon The Best Damn Intermission contest has a limited song selection and bon does wonders with some 3D work. Shame it was only 1 min and 30 secs. Faster than me in bed...ask darien ;) Meatshot 8) Vol. 4 by Justin White #Torn Productions Meatshot is back. But limited to 1 min and 30 secs of carnage absolutely raping (slower than when I rape...ask crowie). More of the same music from The Movie Vault... Ozfortress State of Origin Movie by Son of Dad I made a movie that didn't suck! Decap owes me money!! :D TF2 GA #18 Turbine bind: "I'M FROM TF2BLOGS BIATCHES!!"
December
December brings to the end 2010 (yes, i r smat again). It also brings to a close Ozfortress Winter League 4 and 3 movies come out from Ozfortress, each of superb quality. Bunnies Grand Adventure: Leaving the Div 2 Warren by noser Bunnies Grand Adventure: Leaving the Div 2 Warren by noser OUTFOXED - A Very Foxy Sequel by Darien Darien is back, just under 1 entire year of collecting 800GB of footage from scrims and matches he's finally pieced together a movie with a great soundtrack that puts me to shame and editing that shows off the great plays from the foxy clan. Son of Dad:
"...i give it 10/10 because darien put out yesterday..."
ozfortress Winter League Highlights - Kaiza by Kaiza "Nice fr0g vid ka1za." And people genuinely meant it. That's the success story of the year. Shred by Jolla More pyro action, just a little too dark. But the burning players will light the way :) Flower Power! by illii I love the creativity of this movie. The flower particles > pldx particles. And the ending of the movie is better than the ending of Godfather, where Bruce Wayne kills Superman with the Hulk's junk.
