PC gaming: What are you thankful for this year?

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but a lot of gaming coverage has gotten downright tabloidy, whiny, or straight up boring in recent years. Some of my favorite websites used to be a lot of fun, but a lot of them have become a drag.

Not only is this behavior incredibly lame, it's downright offensive to more serious, complex, or really sucky news (i.e. we're talking about GAMES, people!).

So in the spirit of Thanksgiving, let us give thanks while simultaneously giving a shrug to crotchety gamers.

I'll go first.

I'm (still) thankful for Steam—PC gaming is better for it. I'm thankful for Skyrim, these other four holiday games, and new multiplayer shooters.

I'm thankful for game testers who play through crap so I don't have to. I'm thankful for high-powered rigs. I'm thankful for continued momentum by PC gaming.

I'm thankful for YouTube + gaming, StarCraft II, and Portal 2. I'm thankful for indie games, mods, and dedicated servers. And I'm thankful for Alienware and iGames for letting me dig up cool crap for you to chew on here at Alienware Arena.

(Seriously, I was impressed by your gore concerns to this post and your other responses elsewhere. You're a classy, inspiring, and civil group of readers.)

More than anything, I'm just greatful. Life is good. And if it isn't for you at the moment, I promise it can be again with a little patience, recalibration, surrounding yourself with good people, and soul-searching. I know because that's the formula I have used often when stuck in a pickle, both large or small.

So happy Thanksgiving, readers. What are you thankful for this year, from at least a PC gaming perspective -- and if you're up to it -- a real-life one?

I am thankful for Alienware Arena, which introduced me to a massive world of gaming and amazing people! Thank you all!

I am thankful to be able to have a sweet motorcycle..I am thankful I am able to pay my bills by composing music for tv/film/video games. I am thankful for my Alienware alx area 51 and my brand new maxed out m18x....these days i use mainly for music production and a little skyrim and BF3...I am thankful to be alive to enjoy such great things.

skyrim aint no.1 for the ultimate game of the year yet. it's no.1 for best fantasy genre game. just dont go too far with your fanboyism. besides, i believe that portal 2 will take the win.

but what im really asking for next year is that cod will take more time and IW needs to put more effort in cuz if the next game comes out with something that is from the same engine but just tweaked and renamed, it may turn out to be a bad rated game compared to its predecessors. bf3 might end up going downhill and skyrim too if they continue using the same formula.
