Top 5 biggest PC games to play this spring
March 3rd, 2011
Despite apocalyptic amounts of snow this winter, things could have been worse. Fortunatly for us, spring is right around the corner. And with it, come a slew of high-profile PC games you won't want to miss.
Man your radars. It's the top 5 PC games of spring. Sequels, shooters, and RPGs ahoy!
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (March 22)

The best action-adventure game returns for a third act this month, without the controversial "always on" DRM of previous PC versions. The campaign mode runs 40+ hours of more Italian renaissance awesomeness. But the real hook may be the new multiplayer, which has you hunting down targets as you yourself are hunted by live opponnents. Crazy!
Fable III (May 17)

It was suppose to release alongside console versions last fall, but didn't. It's far from perfect. And it's Fable, which understantdably doesn't resonate with everyone. At the same time, it is Fable, a different and often fresh breed of RPG. The King section is a hoot. And like previous versions, it's synonymous with replayability.
Crysis 2 (March 22)

Rumors suggest Crysis 2 is a console port and will only support DirectX 11 "later on" via patch. It's also been reported that there are far less customization options than the original PC-only version. A bummer for PC enthusiasts, I agree. But from a gaming perspective, Crysis 2 looks to have all the goods, even though it's seemingly been watered down for consoles.
Dragon Age 2 (March 8)

The best fantasy RPG on the market is back. The nitty gritty: Non-linear story. Romance engine! New combat experiences and spells. Importable choices from previous games that allegedly affect the background story. And the popular dialog wheel from Mass Effect will be used. Win!
Portal 2 (April 21)

First off, have you seen these mind-blowing gameplay trailers? Insanity! That's what you get with Portal 2. Not just more of the first game, which was awesome. But new tricks. Add in cross-platform multiplayer, and you have the no. 1 PC game to play this spring. We love you, Valve!
IGNOBLE MENTION:
Duke Nukem Forever (May 3). Imagine this headline from the future: "After 14 years of development, and a studio switch nine months ago, Duke Nukem Forever blows minds!" Ain't gonna happen, people. Give it up.
Did I miss anything?
