May 24th, 2012
Halfway throught he year, and PC players have already been treated to more than enough new games to keep them busy. To pile it on, even more are scheduled to arrive during the usually light months of June, July, and August.
To help you navigate the voluminous waters, here are the top five biggest PC games of summer:
1. Max Payne 3 (June 1)
After nine years, the troubled New York City cop returns. And if recent console reviews are any inidication, Rockstar has delivered again. Like a 4.5 stars out of 5 good. Let's just hope the slight delay on PC was to ensure maximum pleasure. (See what I did there?)
2. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (Jun. 12)
Fast-paced stealth is the name of the game here. Storming the opposition can work, but tactical take-downs will still come out on top. Not necessarily slower is better. But methodical.
3. The Secret World (Jun. 19)
4. Darksiders II (Aug. 14)
The original Darksiders was already a solid Zelda/God of War clone. Armed with a new protagonists this time, however, developer Vigil Games hope to deliver more than just clone gameplay.
5. Prototype 2 (Jul. 14)
Keeping with the action-heavy theme of this list, Prototype 2 is another trending game you might want to keep an eye on. If you weren't a fan of the original, this probably won't change your mind. But if you were, the series could realistically go from good to great.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Since its original "early 2012" release date is still in the air, Counter-Strike: GO didn't make this list. But it would have with a solid release date. Civilization V: Gods & Kings (Jun. 19) is also another one to consider.
Any summer games you're looking forward to that I didn't list? Let's hear it!
