Updated: Promising Brink ready to rumble on PC
May 10th, 2011
UPDATE: That was fast. Multiple reports now say the PC version not only runs as it should, but it's a lot of fun and worth the doe. Party on, dudes!
ORIGINAL STORY: The newly launched Brink looks hot. I've heard more than one person refer to it as "the next Team Fortress 2." But like so many games before it, including Call of Duty: Black Ops for PC, it seems as though Bethesda shipped a buggy game.
What should you do about it? Hold your horses, says the always reliable Ben Kuchera of Ars Technica. "My advice right now is to stay away from the game," he writes. "The version of the game I played is a mess, and not worth your money. Keep an eye on the forums, check to see if reviews are updated as the game is patched, and then make a decision."
Thanks for the tip, Ben. Let's send the message loud and clear: No matter how appealing your game looks, we won't buy it until its fully operational. In the meantime, why not play more Team Fortress 2 while Brink gets its house in order?

The game looks okay. It costs about $50 on Steam. Here is the url: http://store.steampowered.com/app/22350/

Are you reffering to New Vegas? Cause if that's the only other buggy game you know that they've released then you may want to know that Bethesda was only the publisher, and Obsidian Entertainment was responsible for the production of the game itself. They used a modified version of the G.E.C.K. engine to produce the game, but the bugs incorporated in the game were due to bad scripting or what not that Obsidian used when making the game. (Thankfully though, not too long ago a patch was released that provided improved support for a lot of graphics cards, along with a lot of in game quest bugs, and behind the scenes performance enhancing features.)
However, I do hope that manufacturers start to take their games more seriously instead of following the horrible policy of launch now fix later.

Not just New Vegas. Fallout 3 also was released with some bugs that to this date, are still buggy. Even if they're just the publisher, they're endorsing the release of a game. If the game is buggy, it will still damage their reputation for allowing the publication of buggy games. I'm not saying the games are bad, they always find fixes for it asap. I just thought it was funny how this game is buggy and was published by Bethesda.

What were problems with fallout 3? I never had trouble with any game changing bugs at least. I mean I did encounter an occasional Deathclaw falling from the sky haha, but that's to be expected... right? (Btw, Fallout 3 was produced by Bethesda, so the credit for the bugs in that one are rightfully Bethesda's)

I personally haven't except some weird graphics issues but my friend suffered a lot of bugs in the PS3 like random freezing or out of place stuff and I looked through the wiki and it did cite a lot of unresolved bugs. Yeah but I think a publisher is still held liable for allowing buggy games even if they didn't necessarily produce the game.

I'm personally with you on this, I wish publishers would begin to hold games from release until all know issues are resolved (or at least the majority of them that are game changing and make gameplay miserable). I personally would like to see quality games upon release setting a new standard for all the half ass buggy games I've seen lately.

the only problem i had with Fallout 3 was when The Pit was released. i think that was partially the fault of Microsoft because the dlc was incomplete or corrupted. they fixed it in a day, other than that FO3 was a pretty good release.
i do remember falling into the ground but that might have been New Vegas
