2. Tournament Match Structure.

2.1 LAN Preliminary Phase: The "LAN Preliminary Phase" will consist of play among up to 128 Players located at 16 select LAN centers across the United States and Canada. Players will be randomly sorted into Single-Elimination brackets, with Matches starting as quickly as preceding Matches are completed. Play will take place entirely on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28, starting at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time and continuing until 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time or all assigned Matches in the bracket are completed for each day, which may be later. The one undefeated Player remaining at the end of Match play on Sunday, March 28 will advance to the Championship Phase.

2.2 Online Preliminary Phase: The "Online Preliminary Phase" will consist of online play among up to 192 Players, sorted evenly into groups. They will then be randomly sorted into Six Single-Elimination brackets containing up to 32 players each (2 per each group). Players will be assigned to play up to two Matches per week, from March 29 to April 22, continuing until only one Player remains undefeated in each of the three groups. The one remaining undefeated Player from each group (3 total) will advance to the Championship Phase.

2.3 Championship Phase: The "Championship Phase" will consist of online play among exactly 4 Players that have advanced from the earlier phases of the Tournament. The Players will be randomly sorted into a Double-Elimination bracket, with matches starting as quickly as preceding Matches are completed. Play will take place entirely on Sunday, April 25th, starting at approximately 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time and continuing until all Matches in the bracket are completed, which may be as late as 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time or later. Final placement in the Championship Phase is the basis for determining the Winning Players for the Prizes as specified in the Official Rules (at http://www.alienwarearena.com/event/infinitewar/rules/).

3. How to Win the Tournament.

Players must begin by registering for either the LAN Preliminary Phase or the Online Preliminary Phase (not both). The Tournament format for the LAN Preliminary Phase and Online Preliminary Phase will each be Single-Elimination (“Single-Elimination”), with Players randomly placed into brackets to play Matches against the other Players. Upon losing a Match, a Player is eliminated from the Tournament. The Match winning Player advances in the brackets to compete in another Match. The process of elimination and advancement continues until only one Player remains undefeated in each group (3 for the Online Preliminary Phase and 1 for the LAN Preliminary Phase). These four Players advance to the Championship Phase.

The Tournament format for the Championship Phase is Double-Elimination ("Double-Elimination"), with Players randomly placed into a bracket to play Matches against other Players. Upon losing their first Match, a Player is moved to the loser’s bracket to play Matches against the other losing Players. The winners stay in the winner’s bracket to compete against the other winning Players of each Match. When a Player has accumulated 2 losses, they will be eliminated from the Tournament. When the winner and loser brackets are each down to one Player, those two Players compete to determine the winner. Having accumulated zero losses, the winner’s bracket Player will have to win one 1 Match, while the loser’s bracket Player will have to win 2 Matches to be considered the overall winner of the Tournament.
