Prepare to Step Into the Arena
Registration is full and now closed for the Quake Live PC Gaming Season Open.
If you are registered player, whether on the accepted or pending list, please read on for important details you need to be aware of leading up to the tournament:
Check-In
Check-in will be managed through IRC in #alienwarearena on the GameSurge network. If you are not familiar with IRC, you can get to the checkroom using this URL in your web browser: http://www.alienwarearena.com/irc.
All competitors need to check-in with tournament staff on June 27th between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM according to the time zone for your respective conference.
Northeastern Conference: Eastern Time
Southern Conference: Eastern Time
Midwestern Conference: Central Time
Western Conference: Pacific Time
As of 12:30 PM, any competitors that have not checked-in will lose their slot, and will be replaced by players on the waiting list based on the order in which they registered.
If you are on the waiting list, you still have a chance to get into the tournament, depending how many others do not show up. Be sure to come to check-in to try to secure a slot.
Match Network Client
All competitors will be required to download and utilize the Match Network Client during matches. The Match Network Client ensures all competitors are playing fairly.
You can download the Match Network Client at: http://www.alienwarearena.com/account/client/
If you experience any difficulty with the program, you can contact an administrator for assistance.
Match Process
After you check-in, you will be assigned to a chat room for your respective Conference. In that chat room, an administrator will direct play.
Please do not try to play your matches or join servers until directed to do so by an administrator.
We have a limited number of private servers, so there will be a small amount of standby waiting required, particularly in the earlier rounds of play.
You must be available for your next match as soon as the preceding matches in the bracket are complete, unless of course we’re ahead of schedule.
Match Format and Maps
The tournament format is single-elimination, with each match being best-of-three.
The map list in order is: qzdm6, ztntourney1, qztourney6, qztourney7, and qztourney9.
For each match, each player will choose to remove one map from the list. The remaining three maps, in order, will be the maps played in the best-of-three.
Please go ahead and discuss this directly with each of your respective opponents.
Help/Questions
For questions or help, you can find us in #alienwarearena on IRC, or on Ventrilo at 70.86.151.52 port: 4000.
