Alienware X51 - WoW on Ultra?
Mine is due to arrive on February 6th, so we'll see how it works.
lucky you are :) i have bought mine 3 day ago ^^ need to wait 22 feb to receive it :' , that's not a really big configuration but i think for warcraft its large enough . that's the game i play most of time with one or two more (actually in wait of diablo 3). the tower of the x51 is beautiful :) don't take half of the desk place lol and i think its very cool for me ^^ no more big tower with aspirator sound xD :)
I'm interested in finding out how things run as well. Debating on picking up an Alienware X51 or a Dell XPS 8300.
i have m17x and i run it in ultra...
Mine arrived today. I am working for another five hours, but I have tomorrow off so I should be able to offer a fair review by this time tomorrow. I unboxed it this morning and it was heavier than I expected. Runs very quiet and cool, but I have yet to install WoW.
You went with the $1149 model right? If so, what'd it run you after tax and shipping if you don't mind me asking.
Order Subtotal: $1,249.00
Shipping and Handling Total: $25.00
Tax Total: $79.62
Total Amount: $1,353.62
You can get free shipping and it takes an extra two or three days, but I'm going on vacation soon and I wanted to be sure someone would be home when it delivered.

I installed WoW and downloaded all my addons, Vent, Mumble, Fraps. The only issue is that I haven't played in like a year and my authenticator is on my old phone so I have to wait another 45 minutes for Blizzard support to start taking phone calls.
So far, I've played Minecraft and Portal 2. There is some heat, but it's not as intense as my old computer. What is disappointing is that none of my Blu Rays will play.
I probably need to update some software or download some codec or something, but I was really expecting a brand new computer that was just designed within the last 30 days to play a movie right away.
Within two hours, I'm expecting to be able to post a summary on how WoW runs on ultra.

Update:
On Ultra, it drops below 30 FPS in five mans. The system didn't cut it.

Are you running the WoW 64-bit client. Its still in its beta version but it runs just fine for me. Added another 15-20 FPS in crowded cities with the SLi 560Ti's! 64 bit utilizing more processing power and thus should clear up many latency/graphical slow-downs!
M18x R1 w/ATI Crossfire 6990's. Area-51 X58 w/Nvidia 560Ti SLi

can someone provide the 64bit client download link or tell me how to get it?
never mind i found it lol
With the specs you listed, it should be able to run on ultra.
holeyguy66 said: really though under powered or not u really dont need a hole lot of power to play wow to start with the new water effects really is the only gpu heavy feature of wow unless they changed a few things with the last add on i stopped playing shortly before the release of pandaria or whatever its called
Mists of Pandaria isn't out yet.. Not even at the Beta stage..
Found this topic a lot of help though. I recently purchased the X51 (hurry up! Dell is so slow on deliveries -_-) and have been wondering how well it would handle WoW. Can't wait to get it and find out first hand though :D
