Battlefield Series
Massive FPS Lag
Hi, I just bought a new alienware m17x R3 with 8GB RAM and 1.5GB Nvidia graphics card with i7 processor but when I try to play battlefield 3, there are massive lags. Is my config too low for this game or do I need to tweak it before playing it. This is a brand new system and I imagined the config should be enough to play this game. Please help, i'm planning to return this laptop if this is how it is going to be.
Depends the graphic settings may do it or you may have a bug in the game, are you online or on campaign?
Thats a nice house you got there.... sssss... What the.... BOOM!

You may need to get newer drivers for BF3, google search that, it may be your problem. (It was mine)
try playing in high performance power plan, also try checking on your ventilation is your laptop hot?

You won't be able to play with ultra graphics settings on a laptop, desktop GTX 580 with desktop i7 can barely do that and keep 60fps. Laptop and desktop parts are not one in the same so you may have to lower some of your video settings try the high preset and a lower resolution. Also try disabling hyper-threading i have seen that as a fix for alot of people on BF3 forums and as jstryker said update drivers.

ya that happens to me on some maps weak procesor
it could be your ping, how is your internet connection? Wi-Fi signals and other people on your router all takes up bandwidth. OR it could be the ping of the server your playing on.
i would also check with these other posts as well. GoodLuck! =]

Check for video drivers and update them. You can also set the graphics lower for a smoother performance. Maybe you have multiple programs on that dont need to be used when playing games or just sit there, you can turn them off too to get smoother gameplay.
