Purchased new X51 - bluescreen/memory dumps everyday (please assist)
I ordered the new X51 desktop when Dell/Alienware announced it a few weeks ago. After two delays it arrived last week. Since starting it up I've gotten the "blue screen of death/memory dump" close to every other hour.
I have installed nothing on this machine. In fact as soon as I booted it up the machine crashed within 30 minutes. I've been using the machine for two days now and it has crashed everyday. I don't have any fancy programs running, normally it crashes when I'm tying in Word or reading online.
I have updated all the drivers and service packs for Windows 7. The machine is still crashing. Below is the DxDiag log, can someone please assist? I'm 35 years old, been using PCs since I was 12 (yes, the IBM ones with the black/green monitor). I also own another Alienware (four years old) and it doesn't have this issue.

I have installed nothing on this machine. In fact as soon as I booted it up the machine crashed within 30 minutes. I've been using the machine for two days now and it has crashed everyday. I don't have any fancy programs running, normally it crashes when I'm tying in Word or reading online.
I have updated all the drivers and service packs for Windows 7. The machine is still crashing. Below is the DxDiag log, can someone please assist? Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's a lot of info, but I figured anyone who would be able to help would ask for the above info anyway. Figured I'd post it first.
I'd much rather not wipe the system, It's brand new! I'm hoping someone sees a patch or something...bleh.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's a lot of info, but I figured anyone who would be able to help would ask for the above info anyway. Figured I'd post it first.
I'd much rather not wipe the system, It's brand new! I'm hoping someone sees a patch or something...bleh.
No, no, sorry, let me clarify. Just uninstall the video drivers. You don't have to restore the system! Then once the video drivers are uninstalled reinstall them via the Dell or Nvidia website.

Thanks all. I just ran another diagnostic and it came back with a video error. Seems like I will have to reinstall the video drivers, really hope this helps.

You need to update GPU driver. Now, be sure to download it from dell support site, not nvidia. For some reason GTX555 is not listed in nvidia products, it is also not listed under supported hardware in newest drivers. So you need 285.66 drivers from dell. Be sure to select custom installation and than tick the "perform clean installation" box.
You also must update intel GPU driver, also get drivers from dell site.
I know it's a brand new system, everything should be up to date, unfortunately it rarely is.

lol an Indian guy was helping me and he was spelling something out and he said I as in Indian im just on the phone holding in my laughter

If for any reason the card needs to be swapped support can do that for you and it's a REAL QUICK thing to do...

I have the same problem with my X51. Called Dell and they replaced all my fans and GTX555 card. Have no problem so far. Still crossing my fingers though.

omg I've had the same thing happen also i had to mute the phone it was too good
blue screens are normally caused from failure drivers lol
Thanks for all the help. I'm upload the new video drivers from Dell now. I really hope it works because I don't want to have to take apart this console. I'm comfortable with a regular desktop, but this guy is small.
Also glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue. If the updates don't work I'll call into Dell. I did notice there was no support for the 555 card on Nvidia.

That's because the GTX 555 is "Optimus" technology and for some reason Nvidia decided that it didn't want to support it anymore. you can download modded drivers for it here:

In post no. 2 there are modded drivers for that card. (I don't know how up-to-date that is because BlazeGhost has been on extended leave from the forums....)

I've also had the same problem Firerunner, my machine is two days old and keeps shutting itself down when I do certain things. I've left it on for an extended period downloading games from steam without a hitch, but as soon as I try and play a game it dies, same with browsing on Firefox. It will sit idly on the desktop no worries though. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to why it dies while gaming or browsing the web? Apparently my drivers are up to date, but will try and re-install.
