Aurora R4 problem
Alright then, so I just got my R4 today and set it up and turned it on for the first time, everything was fine but then after I restarted the comp I got something on the monitor saying it was going into Power Save Mode. So anyway, I want to know is how to fix this. I tried connecting to other monitors and unplugging and plugging in the cables but nothing. When I press things like caps lock and such the lights for it don't turn on,which is making me think this may be the comps problem than the wiring/monitor.
I already called dell and tried a bunch of things they suggested but none of it worked. They said they would send someone but they didn't give me any type of time to expect when that person would be here. If anyone has any suggestions i'm all for it, thanks.

Sorry no link but it does cover a similar issue. Seems they rolled out the R4 a little too fast. Hope it's gets resolved. Have you updated the BIOS. I saw the new one covers some issues but.....

Edit: I'd also like to add the whenever I turn the computer on I get one beep from it,not sure if that indicates a problem but felt I should add it.
My R3 beeps once and then starts up normally so I think your fine. But you can look in the owners manual to make sure. Should be a section on troubleshooting thats has post beeps, the number of beeps and what they mean. Do you have things besides the mouse and keyboard plugged into the USB's? If so, unplug everything but the keyboard and mouse and see what happens.

Edit:Ok now i'm really worried, whenever I try to turn the comp on it makes the usual loud noise then it shuts itself off.
Edit: For a second it told me the previous overclocking failed and to enter setup, not sure what to do because whenever I do that it brings me to that black screen/white dash thing.
kinda like a beeping noise, right? check the manual, there may be a code for that. i mean these beeps is your computer talking to you. 1 beep has a different meaning than 2 etc. Check that and, in the meantime, i'll try and get a desktop guru to take a look at this thread

Several things can cause this problem.
1)Bent Pins in the CPU socket. Core i7 processors don't have pins on the CPU, they are in the socket. They are tiny and very fragile. The CPU itself has small contact plates for the pins. Even over tightening the heatsink just a little too much can cause this problem and give you the symptoms you are experiencing. Bentpins can cause your IOH temperature to run really high (around 100*c) even when your CPU shows a normal temperature. The only way to be 100% certain is to remove the CPU and inspect the socket with a magnifying glass...but if we simply suspect you will not do this. You will call support.
2)Defective Ram can also cause this issue. Defective Ram will cause even a small factory OC to fail like this and put your rig into a boot loop. You can also have good ram and have the bent pins I mentioned above, but since the memory controller is on the CPU, it would give you the same symptoms that defective Ram gives.
If you can get into your bios set everything back to factory defaults. If you have enabled an XMP profile on your ram you need to disable it until we get this sorted out. By doing this your ram should default to higher latency making it more stable for the time being. Now while you're in there drop the multiplier on your ram one notch to underclock it. Setting factory defaults should clock your CPU to stock speeds and also drop your ram to it's rated specs. By dropping the multiplier on the ram another step it will underclock your ram and hopefully let your PC boot up.
Pay attention to how much Ram shows in your bios. If it is less than what you know you should have then it's a bad Ram module or bent CPU socket pins. If your rig boots with the ram underclocked and then all your ram shows up in Windows (under Task Manager and Resource Monitor) then your CPU socket is likely fine, but your ram will have to be replaced. It is common for Ram to show up and work in Windows, but still be unstable at speeds above 1333mhz, even if it is rated to run at 1600mhz. If your computer boots and not all of your Ram shows in Task Manager and Resource Monitor then it could be either a faulty module or bent pins. If it doesn't all show in Task Manager then a large portion of it will show as "Hardware Reserved" in the Resource Monitor. This is a sign of bent pins in the CPU socket. Most of the time this "Hardware Reserved" ram will not show in the bios, will not show in Task Manager, but will show as "Hardware Reserved" in the resource monitor and it will show up in CPUz under the memory tab.
If you have added any extra hdds then you need to remove them until this is resolved just to eliminate that as a problem. Even though this is seemingly unrelated, these rigs are sensitive and a hdd not configured right, or just a hdd with a simple fault can actually keep your operating system drive from booting up.
Let me know what your results are. If we find you have faulty ram you should call support and make them replace it. If it's faulty Ram...it happens. Be happy it was that and not the bent pins. If it is bent pins, they can be straightened, but it's a painstaking process. I have done it. These pins are SMALL and odd.

I'm not sure if I should call tech support back and speak to a new person and tell them of the problem i'm having now, or wait till they call me back from my previous call and tell them I have a new problem...
Well for now just go into your bios and set it back to factory default. Disable any XMP profile if your ram and bios has it, and drop your ram's multiplier. See if it boots. If this does not help then you will have to call support.

Ok. Well it could be that your ram is not seated correctly. Check and see that all your components are seated and that no plugs are loose. You may want to actually remove your ram and put it back in. I would say to try one module at a time but I'm not sure if you can do that with quad channel.
You do have a hardware problem. Call support, give them the details...even though they already have someone coming it won't hurt to update them on the issues you are having so the tech can be fully prepared. That's what I would do.

The guy Dell sent came and tried replacing the graphics cards and it didn't change anything, he then ran tests on my comp(he was able to get to the BIOS)and said it was more than likely that there was something wrong with the hard drive and said he'd be back probably tomorrow with a new one. Guess i'll see if that fixes the problem.
Well the guy came and replaced my Hard Drive and it worked,i'm typing this on my R4 right now.
