Ivy Bridge is only coming out this summer mid-summer. Nothing we can do about it. It also will probably take time for the prices to drop too...It'll run you at least $2k stock!
It takes 47 muscles to frown, and 17 to smile.. It only takes 3 to end a life.. One shot, one kill.

As I understand the rumour mill Dell will make ivy available as soon as Intel makes it available. A reports speculate that the newly revised laptop ranges are only phase 1, ie phase 2 will be when Ivy is made available..

No, it isn't true that it's coming out May 23rd; that is just a rumour.
As for customising your M14x: You don't need more than the base 6GB of RAM for gaming; 6GB is more than enough, anything more is overkill, in fact, you'd be fine with 4GB (but that is no longer an option it seems). The Intel Core i5 Sandy Bridge offered is more than enough for gaming, but if you really *need* an i7, go for the cheapest option. The i7 is really massive overkill for gaming, and no matter what game you play, you will never utilise all of the power offered by that processor. And with the video card, there really is no difference between the 1GB card and the 2GB card, don't fall for Dell's trap of making you think more is better; in this case, it really isn't.
So, where's that $1?

I find this really helpful.
if all that is true then why do my games not run flawlessly all the time

I take it you have a M14x R1? If so then of course not all games will run flawlessly, the GT555 is a mid-range card, barely, and thus will struggle with some more modern games on highest settings. Or it may be possible that your experiencing overheating issues; if you are having a problem with your laptop, mate, please don't hesitate to post a thread in the Hardware section detailing that you're experiencing.

Hmm... I honestly don't know why, mate. It's possible that some of your hardware isn't operating optimally. Do you have Nvidia's most current drivers installed? Whatever the problem is, it isn't your processor, that I can guarantee you. Why don't you post exactly what issues you are having in the Hardware section, with which games your computer isn't running optimally with.
