That is a pretty high price tag, but for those who are thinking of going with dual 680s in SLI, this is supposed to match the performance(at stock clocks it's only slightly slower) while being cooler, quieter and more power efficient.

Although I personally wouldn't spend more than $600 on a video card....

Well Ginny and I had a discussion last night and since she has decided on the M14X(and saving me several hundred bucks) I think I will be upgrading to either the GTX 690 or the HD7990. Since they will be priced about the same I will wait for reviews on both to see which one is the better choice. I think this will be the last GPU upgrade for my rig for sure. By the time either of these are outdated, so shall my rig be outdated and it would be time to buy or build a new one anyway.

The good news is that since the release of the GTX680 (and given their price points) the GTX580 has dropped to as little as $379. So if you ever wanted a GTX580 now would be a good time to buy.

That's an intense looking thing, but I think, since it costs twice of GTX680, and perform slightly slower than GTX680 Sli, wouldn't it be better to get GTX680 SLi instead?

Well I guess that really depends on the individual. It has the same specs as two 680s, it's just clocked lower. So you could OC it to match the 680s in SLI. The benefit I think is essentially having dual 680s in SLI without taking up both PCIe slots. In the Aurora this will free up space for a sound card, TV tuner, Revodrive etc.

And if it's a few frames a second slower at it's stock clocks...who would notice? these are performance levels far beyond what is needed to run any game on ultra. I mean a single GTX 560TI or 570 can max out any game.

But it is a good point you bring.

i wish the EVGA model would drop in price, not sure if i trust those other brands, it would definitely beat getting a second GTX560 for sli, then I could just use my current 560 for PhysX

Well, frankly, If I'm about to build a desktop system, I'd use this GTX690 rather than GTX680 just because it looks terrific :P

The 690 is a sweeeeet card! Would be major overkill for me personally, but I can see why the "money is no object" enthusiast might want it.

Haha...yeah man it is Ridiculously Overkill.

I'm waiting for the release of AMD Raedon 7990 and see who is crowned king this year for graphics cards.

I would love to see a review from one of our peeps here in the AWA forums. There is a great pool of knowledge in here and if anything, no one here has a problem with being blunt..lol~
I will say though, that card is sharp looking:)
