because the m14x has optimus in it which when on battery power turns on to save power. On pretty much any laptop ive seen except for macs the performance drops a lot to save power.

I personally dont know a way to make it perform the same as if it was plugged in. dont think there is a way.

The reason why it does this is when you unplug your machine if your saying this is because the amp's that the battery packs has on it is alot, and when your running your alienware computer it's going to need alot of HRZ meaning when your unplug it the grpaich card will stop working for a while until there's more HRZ helping the grapics encrece. There is really no real way to stop this problem just keep your computer plugged in or if you do want to do somthing about it you would go unplug your computer, plug it back in and if it's not working properly go to your Desktop "Right click" go to Grapich prop's then go to Advanced, then "refresh" rate will be on 40 or 30 depending on what kind of computer you have then you will have to put it on 60 HRZ to make it run proerly.

I saw a problem identical from a m17x. The solution was to download a tool called PowerMizer but windows 7 does not work: thanks anyway I will continue looking. =)

vi un problema igual en una m17x. La solucion era descargar una herramienta llamada powermizer pero para windows 7 no sirve: gracias de todas formas seguire buscando.

You do not need to keep looking man, there is no way around it. M14x needs more power to run at 100% than your battery can provide. It simply must be plugged in for optimum performance. When running on battery your GPU will be running at about 50% of its maximum speed and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Any overclocking you do will not be applied
