I'd run something like RealTemp to monitor your GPU and CPU temps. It's quite possibly a temperature issue.

You mention that it sometimes freezes on startup as well, what point does it get to and when it does freeze, does the image distort at all or does it look like everything is normal?

the image distort, it's like shaders are of... and temps are not the problem cpu max get 60°C on full load and GPU maxes at 60°C

Do you have a seperate video card to try or onboard video? If you have onboard video on your motherboard, pull out your 4870, change the video settings in the BIOS to onboard and see if it works.

I've seen this in the past and it was always a failed / failing video card.

How long has this been going on?

Could be the power supply or motherboard. Since you said that it has been happening since you got the rig then I would have to say there is a problem with the PCI slot your card is connected to. Try placing the card into a different PCI slot.

Get HWInfo and monitor your voltages to be sure that everything is where it should be.

Sounds like a faulty gpu. Do you see artifacts? These, yellow, purple, pink, green, heck any type of color blobs on the screen? When it freezes, does the screen have vertical or horizontal lines and some color?

If its 3rd GPU in a row with exactly the same problem then either you have really really really bad luck with GPUs or its something else. Easiest way would be to test that gpu in some other machine to see if it happens there aswell or its something else.

If that's the case, then you're either dealing with a problematic motherboard or a messed up power supply, unless you have obscenely bad luck with vid cards.

Either way, I wouldn't dare put a new video card into this thing until you get the full thing tested thoroughly.

Have put the GPU in an another rig and it works fine in the other rig. And it isn't the motherboard, put everything on another motherboard an it still freezes. i have a second pc for film streaming on my TV(hdmi).

No artifacts, i just freezes, and the sound keeps returning.

Im lost.you put gpu in another laptop and it works fine. So its mobo or the connection. What do you mean by putting everything on another mobo? Thats the part where i get lost

it's a desktop not a laptop, don't think there is a laptop with E8800 dual core.
I have 2 desktops, 1 that has the freezing problem en the other desktop is for playing movies on my hdtv.

So it removed everthing from my desktop that has problems and put it on the mobo thats in my other desktop after i remove all the components.

I would get a refund on the GPU's and just take it straight to the store and show them what happens

yeah, i realized half way though writting that post that its a desktop.
Anyways, so when you put GPU in another pc, it is fine. But when you put all hardware in other pc you are experiencing problems... So it is not the GPU. Try testing every piece of hardware 1 by 1 by placing it in the other computer

It's not the GPU. It works when i put the GPU in my other desktop. i think there is a hardware conflict. maybe it's the ram. it's the only thing that i didn't change...

i'm going to check it
