What is the range of ideal temperatures on my m14x for both the gpu and all four cores?
Also what should my idle temps be in the range of?
Thank you!

You want you CPU temps to stay below 85C at full load, GPU should run cooler at 70C max.
Idle temps are not that important but CPU should be around 50-60C

So when my temps get above those you mentioned it's time for a repaste?
Thank you
Thank you
Depends how high temps you talking about. It may be that some canned air will be enough. You fan gets dusty and even a little dust raises temps by a few C
I'm playing the Sniper Elite V2 demo right now on the high graphical setting and two of my cores maxed out temps were 92C but they both would jump around from 82-90C. My other two cores maxed out at 86C and they both would jump between 76-84ish C.
My NVIDIA card maxed out at 68 but now has been sitting steady at 66C.
I have a foreboding sense that theses are two high... I'm I boned?

Now all my cores are hitting high 80s' to as much as 96C even with the back of my laptop lifted='[
Time to clean your laptop from dust then/repaste. 96 is bit much cus your cpu max temp should be 100 C so youre just couple of degrees below it.
yeah, 96C is too high, dusting and maybe repasting will help
How intense is repasting?
Loungecrew47 said: How intense is repasting? You will need to open up your laptop to do it, thats the hardest part. Repasting itself is easy.
How much of my laptop will I have to take apart in order to repaste? Is this something I can do on my own??
Thank you!
Thank you!
Take a look at this. You basically have to take apart the entire laptop.
M14x teardown
You can do it on your own, its not that hard. You can simply follow this video guide and be careful not to loose any screws

How is putting the M14x back together? Is there anything I should keep in mind while doing it?
Also what is a good brand of thermal paste to use?

First time i used MX-4, than about 4 days ago i repasted again and used IC Diamond, results are similar. IC Diamond is better, i'm getting lower temps but i also used Diesel's advice when applying paste and it seems to work great.
So IC Diamond or MX-4. MX-4 is easier to apply and still gives great results. When i was applying IC Diamond i kept it in hot water and it still was pretty hard
There is really nothing to keep in mind when putting it back together... work backwards i guess, thats it. There is 1 rubber piece under the mobo, if you try to put the mobo back in and it does not sit right, check that the rubber piece is in place. It has to be there, once you see it you can figure it out easily, don't worry:) Just keep your screws in order. I use an A4 piece of papaer and label all screws.
And btw, Diesels advice was to put a little paste on CPU and heatsing and take it off with a card or something. This would fill microscopic cracks. After you apply a small dot like you normally should. It worked great for me so you might wanna try and use it.

My m14x just hit the 90's today, I was a little freaked but it was understandable. It was running a Full scan from Mcafee, Deep Clean from Advanced System Care and playing a game while listening to music, of course it handled it very well and didn't even get to turbo max 3.1ghz. This is the first time so I think I'll take the dusting advice first. Repasting is a bit much, and when I do it I'm going to upgrade what I have just to get it all done in one shot.
@Krishnooof Where are you buying the IC Diamond and/or MX-4?
