video recording since it has screenshot capabilities and people can look at your screenshots in your screenshot library wouldn't it be nice to be able to record and upload video? I know you can put videos on steam but you can't record video yet :/

Depending on the games you're playing, you can record in game. You could also use Fraps, though you have to pay for that. But yeah, I agree, a recorder embedded in Steam would be cool.

I hope that try to do that in the future. It might require computers to have more resources though. Then again, they could just have it as a Download Tool.

I just use a recording device that catches the stream of the game to record. Try Media Replay Catcher. Nice program to do this with.

Yeah, it would be cool. The only game I know that has that capability is TF2.

Each game has different settings so they would have to use different code for each game which would be a pain and way to much work

Not necessarily, the user interface overlay works independently of games, so it could be written as an extension to that.

Yeah similarly like how people use Fraps or w/e video recording software.

That would be a great resource for Steam to have. I can imagine it's something they'd like to implement in the future.
