Video Cards

Page 1 of 2 1 2
I've been reading the new video cards that just came out this year and I've been wanting to know why people choose the HD7970 more than the 600's? Just wondering.

because ati is cheaper and according to my research ati 7970m is a lot fater than NVIA 600's :)

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Both are great series cards. Personal preferance and price are the big factors. I'm leaning towards a 7870 and possibly pairing it with another down the road when the prices come down and I'm feeling frisky.

I chose the 7970M on my new build because I read that it is just as good as the 600's but uses significantly less power. When we're talking about a laptop, power usage is very important.

That being said, I have had bad experiences with ATI and would have preferred the NVIDIA all things being equal.

I can't wait to get my 680! I just ordred it through the step-up program through EVGA. Can't wait. Upgrading from my 580.

? what do you mean by more games support them? Both AMD and Nvidia can run all games. For now AMD is winning this year and they are winning by far to be honest. Their cards are faster and cheaper. drivers are only slightly lagging behind Nvidia. Looking at how much progers AMD made in the past 2 years, AMD drivers will soon be as good as Nvidia's

Yeah, donJO's statement have me confuzzled!

Since AMD took over ATI the graphic card technology has vastly improved.

this makes no sense becuase all games have equal support it's all about driver updates on the heavy games to make them run smoother like BF3 or Crysis. But it's all about prefrence to be honest I'm more of a AMD my self for a long time...

The only games that are pure Nividia are the ones on there game channel that Nividia them selves made to benchmark there cards and thats all they are, Benchmark games.

my time has come.

WarGasimXD said: nope amd and nvidia have been going back and forth as far as the best but as of right now nvidia is owning them with there 680 and 690 by a great bit. I moved from nvidia on my new system a couple of months ago to ati for the firs time 6970's and I'm going back to nvidia, ati's drivers are horrible, trust me nvidia has always ben the best and will always be the best sorry to say :) hell the 580 was killing all of amd' s even the 6990 now thats bad :)

I think you missed the part of this thread where everyone was talking about the mobile GPUs. There isn't a 680m to compete with the 7970m.
