An update to the Elder Scrolls MMO
Edit: Don't know why I posted this in Off-Topic, I guess I'm just so used to posting in here. Ah well, Sorry. :)

Yeah, I was reading some rumors that there might be PvP, and that it's going to be in third person like other MMOs.

Not so excited about the 3rd person thing.... I primarily play in 1st person in the Elder Scrolls games, and I will really miss that feature if I ever play the MMO.

If this is real info then the game is going to suck so hard.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

We'll just have to see how the story plays out; if Todd Howard is directing this (which I'm beginning to doubt...) he wouldn't overlook something like that; the Elder Scrolls have always focused on lore and history... although you never know, even though the story line is pre-Skyrim it is quite a bit post-Morrowind, and Tamriel progressed a LOT between Morrowind and Oblivion! The Argonians could have made peace with the Dunmer, for all we know.
But what's the problem with the Nords and the Dunmer? Skyrim and Morrowind are adjacent on the map, and in Morrowind there are plenty of Nordic merchants about; they seem to be pretty friendly...

Taken from UESPWIKI on the lore page.
After the Oblivion Crisis, the Nords and Orcs launched attacks from the north.[2] Then, the disappearance of Vivec caused the Ministry of Truth to become unstable. Engineers in Morrowind, led by Vuhon, constructed a machine called the Ingenium, powered by living souls, to keep the ministry aloft. When one Dunmer named Ilzheven was chosen to power the machine, her lover Ezhmaar, also known as Sul destroyed the machine to save her life. The plan backfired, however, as the Ministry completed its fall, destroying Vivec City and causing Red Mountain to erupt, covering the rest of Vvardenfell in ash and lava in an event known as "The Red Year". An invasion by the Argonians of Black Marsh forced the remaining Dunmer to retreat to Solstheim.
In just small bit of info on the lore page it explains exactly why a faction between those races is highly unlikely to exist :P.

Right, I remember this! That bit of lore actually came from a fiction novel written based off of the Elder Scrolls called The Infernal City (good book; I strongly recommend it). Still doesn't answer why the Nords wouldn't be friendly with the Dunmer; your extract says that they attacked from the north, but where did they attack?? Morrowind?

I would assume that tension was always there. I do think they break away from the lore but it is needed to create a dynamic conflict structure as well as tie them to some sort of storyline. I will still play it just because I have played all of the games in the series.

So it would be some 400 years before the events of Oblivion... interesting. So there may not be racial issues after all, bettadenu, if the Nords and Argonians invaded after the Oblivion crisis.
