Question: Rate your experience with Alienware
Fantastic! Zero problems from out-of-the-box!
Great. One small issue, easily fixed!
Good. One issue, spent a few days getting it fixed.
Average. One or more issues, had to have a new part.
Below-Average. One or more issues, had to either return the system or have tech come out.
Bad. Had to have the same issue worked on multiple times.
Very Bad! Might as well have sent me a vacuum for all it's good for. Will never buy Alienware again.

Ok...so it has been said here that many folks just sound out when there is an 'issue' with their product. So here is an opportunity to give props to your beloved beast if warranted, if you had an issue and it was taken care of quickly and professionally, or if your experience was so bad you wondered if you were on hidden camera being taped for a new tv series, "Screwed Over!" complete with a laugh-track.

My personal experience ranked great, only for a small issue with my blu ray drive which did not work, (just the blu ray, the drive itself worked fine) but was quickly replaced and no probs since then:)
If you vote, take a sec and share what model you have and why you voted as you did. Many hear just the bad reviews, let's hear some good ones:)

It's great, magnificent laptop but imperfect nevertheless.

The one thing I despise the most, is that they used plastic as a choice of material around the keyboard. For this kind of price, I don't think plastic is the right material they should've chosen. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with mine.

What defines you is how you react to disappointments.

I finally got an alienware, its just the 699 x51 but I couldnt be happier with it. only problem I have had is it was shipped with outdated drivers, 5 minute fix. it plays all my pc games at highest setting np, swtor, aoc, ff14, alice, nwn2, just to name some of the more demanding. next time time we are getting a new laptop, and kinda torn between alienware and digital storm, I am super happy with alienware(and my current laptop is dell its been good to me as well but its 4 years old now) but digital storm gives alot more for the price and seem to take alot of pride, but I have 8 monthes to decide lol, sorry bout the ramble but drinking haha

Boy, I hope our time differences are off, it's 6:30 A.M. here..LOL!

Whomever voted the worst rating, it really doesn't mean much if you vote and then just poof out of the thread without a single word. Why was it so horrible? This is not a love-in thread for AW...get it off your chest:)

I haven't had any problems with mine. I've had mine for a year and a half. Not one call to support :)

well, i had to go with good. i didn;t spend a few days fixing it, but overheating and the need to repaste is no small issue. For most customers it is a deal breaker and means hours spent on the phone with customer service. This is unacceptable with a brand new laptop. The fact that i was able to fix the issue myself is irrelevant.
Still, once i fixed it i never had any problems. Only 2 BSOD and these were my fault, caused by a driver. Overall i'm very happy but sadly M14x does not deserve anything higher than "good", 6-7/10 rating

I have a m14x and I voted average below average. My m14x is the first laptop I ever bought. I needed a laptop because I was starting my first year of college and I knew I wanted to major in something computer related(Computer Science major now!=D). I am a big console gamer but I wasn't taking my 360 to school with me so I started shopping around for laptops that I can game on. My search lead me to Alienware. I thought to myself "Awesome I can have a dependable laptop and get into PC gaming at the same time" and the decision to buy a M14x was a no brainer, simply for the fact that's its portable and powerful.

Then I began to have heat issues. I wasn't even aware that my m14x had heat problems until about 3 months after I got. I started to monitor my temps while I played games and what I saw shocked me. CPU temps hitting 96C? "No way" I thought must be something wrong with the software I'm using. But after trying different temp monitoring software and having them all tell me the same thing I began to get scared. I remember Google searching "m14x and heat issues" and reading stories of people with the same issue as mine. Bad thermal paste job was the problem. I also remember reading stories of people who sent their laptop back to Dell for a fix but instead got a scratched laptop in return still having the same problem. Some people got a Dell tech to come to his/her house to try and solve the problem but from what I read online Dell techs are usually not too smart and end up making the problem worse.

So here I am now, afraid to play anything on my m14x besides minecraft and flash games because I don't want to damage it. I have a terrible sinking felling that I may have already(playing 3hour+ of civ 5 in on sitting). I definitely do not want Dell to make my laptop worse so what am I to do? I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to try and repaste it myself once classes are done(wish me luck it's my first time). Doesn't Alienware stress test there PC's before they ship them? Maybe mine was skipped or something but it makes me wonder what else didn't they do.

I love the look and feel of my m14x but since I can't really play anything on it at the moment, which is the reason I got the damn thing, makes me a frustrated customer. I feel screwed that I paid so much only to get what I did. If I would of knew about this in the parameters of the return date I most certainly would have returned it. Wish I would of knew about digitalstorm before I ordered it, there laptops look good and have a cheaper cost.

Sorry this was so long I just needed to get this off my chest.

I voted average as well. Its a hit or miss. Right now I am trying to upgrade my cpu and I keep getting transferred and told I can and I can't (by the way I know I can so they will just have to keep dealing with me). Its seldom I am connected with someone that has a great knowledge base about computers. Sometimes I have talked with techs that no more than me, which is what I want because then I can learn. Anyways, its a problem overall. I think the chat team on the chat section needs to have the ability to send shipments, repair orders, and what not. They apparently have a new system installed. We will see what that can do for them now in the future. Overall, I love alienware and will continue to support them, but hope they can support me when I at least want an upgrade.

Find me on steam: joseph_tritico, origin: CarpeDiem3, and Xbox: ineffable3.

Well you will likely see more positive reviews from the desktops.

Ginny and I had made our minds up to go with the M14X but I think we will go ahead and get the M17X since the heat isn't as much of a problem. We do plan on keeping this thing for several years.

Got an Aurora R3

Only problem I really have is sometimes it doesn't recognize my Ethernet connection when i boot it up, a simple restart usually fixes it.

Everything else is just fantastic, really happy with what I've got, now I just hope it lasts x3

Tricky choosing the right button. Had 3 issues, 2 replacements pluss US instead of UK keyboard right off the mark. However, the service provided made me wish for a 'I had problems but am still a happy Borg and will support the invasion'
