Overheating on M11x (2nd gen)
I have a m11x laptop and since when I first got my laptop, it seems to be overheating SUPER easily. Is there anyway I can fix this problem? When I first got my laptop, i remember it taking a while before it started getting hot. I feel like the overheating is affecting my gameplay lag. My internet connection is good and i'm 99% sure its my laptop's problem and guessing its the overheating problem. Thanks!

Download hwmonitor if you dont have anything to monitor temps

Thanks I downloaded it. What readings do you need?
you can make screen shots of every page =)
Have you been playing any games with hwinfo launched? If not, do that. The best would be downloading Prime95 and FurMark but playing games will do the trick

Yeah, its too hot. You can fix it by repasting CPU and GPU. You can do it yourself or, if you still have warranty, you may call dell and they will do it for you.
you should post this one on the hardware section dude. . .

It actually is in hardware section:) I guess admins moved it.
Had my M11x r3 for over a year now, out of warranty and been having terrible overheating problems, i play an mmmo game .. World of tanks .. and the frame rate drops to 7-10fps ...... so ! i added extra ram 5gb in total and bought a lap top cooler (5 fans) off e-bay (£23) it now runs superbly for me 45-55 fps easily (fibre optic connection btw) all in all this is a machine thats very limited in standard spec, but moderate in top spec, purley because of overheating ... (had palm rest, keyboard and hard drive replaced under warranty) .... it a cooling issue folks ...
The M11X's design was fault and the hardware combination was not cooled properly.
Call alienware and ask them to replace the heatsink, and repaste your CPU and GPU.
I had to heavily moddify my M11X to get it to play games without throttling.
(Mounted directly to the chassis USB powered fans+raiser feet 30$ of materials)
