m15x wont turn on :(
ello,
My m15x was overheating so today I opened it up, cleaned the fans and then applied some mx5 thermal paste.
When attempting to remove the front panel I accidentially dislodged the connector which is in red here: http://i.imgur.com/sIlDk.jpg it was glued to the circuit. I have pushed it back down and it appears to be making a solid connection.
But the laptop won't turn on, when the power is in none of the alien heads illuminate including the one on the rear.
What should I do?
Also can you power the laptop on without using the front panel button?

wow, that is bad. You dislodged the white cable thing, right? Not that pastic rectangular connector on the mobo?
Either way, it is possible that you broke it and pushing it back in will not work. Sadly you may need either a new cable, if it was the cable you broke, or a new mobo if that rectangular plastic piece was forced out.
And you can only turn on your laptop by pushing on the button on the front panel. Make sure all cables are connected correctly

If I am not incorrect, that glue more often than not is a conductive of sorts that plays a very important role in the connection. In other words, it is not meant to ever come loose. This is a bummer, as that would not be under warranty as you were re-pasting yourself. Anyone else?
I actually do have a real life, I just don't remember what the password to it is...

ow, that is bad if you opend the case itself and paste it yourself it will not be under warranty $$$$$
Depending on the warranty you have you might be able to get out of this situation. If you have the premium warranty that covers user damage you can always fix it as best you can and pour a liter of water on it and say you spilt something on it and now it won't turn on... Heh.
