Stupid question about monitors...
Page 1 of 2 1 2
I just got the X51 and feel that my old hd monitor doesnt do it justice. I wanted to get a monitor that could double up as a tv for my room so was looking at getting a good samsung 32 inch. May sound like a stupid question but does using a tv that is bigger such as a 32 inch rather than a 21 inch monitor have any knock on effects it terms of graphics or slowing down the computer?
Cheers

i use a secondary monitor which is a crappy old tv which is about 20" (doesnt even have HDMI lol) it looks fine and im running it off my M14X and using the secondary card(intel one) on that screen and it looks just as good , you might just have to play around with the brightness and contrast levels abit
The Cake is not a Lie. It is just propaganda spread by the pie party who are jealous of its deliciou

Physical size doesn't affect speed, resolution does. However for a desktop machine you shouldn't even care for resolution in single display setup. Most mid-range and high-range GPUs will allow you playing games in full HD (with few exceptions :) )

Personally for huge-screen experience I prefer projectors :) I'm not a big fan of Full HD TV crispness however playing Batman Arkham City on a wall having 80" HD image - amazing :)

I wouldn't go for more than a 32" personally. I have a 52" HDTV and World of Warcraft was a bit overwhelming to play on that size. StarCraft II was amazing however. I currently play on a 24" BenQ 2420T and i'll never go back. If you can, get a tv with 240Hz at least. It'll make a slight difference in image speed while watching movies as well as playing games! Your FPS will go up beyond 60fps if your gpu is capable of that. 120Hz is ok, decent for the money but you won't notice as great a difference. LCD is fine and inexpensive, LED is a tad bit more but will work as well.

Tried playing Dragon Age on HDTV but it just looked ... wrong. Maybe cause it wasnt over HDMI.
Another thing to try when the X51 gets here. :D

I have my X51 using a 42" 3D plasma as its main screen (using HDMI) and its fantastic once you get used to it.

i second that! HD projectors are the great! as long as you got an area that permits the setup. ranisz82, what kind of projector are you using? i've got 2 of optom'as HD20 model and both have been great! i had to take it a part and dust out the filter on one of them but other than that, they've been great.
one thing about them is i recommend you be atleast "somewhat" tech savvy because it's not like a hdtv. you just plug it in and go until they wear out 10-15 years later. they take maintenance. but its so worth it. AND you get more bang for your buck than an HDTV :)

Acer H5360
Whats the color contrast like? I havent considered projectors in a while but when I did a few years back that was a bit of a problem.

Image quality is amazing and I was surprised by its brightness. I'm running 20% ECO mode in a room with small ambient light and Game Of Thrones looks great :)
One issue - rainbow - but that is common for cheap DLP PJs.
Good to know. I might consider it someday. I have a slanted (is that the word) roof so I could aim a projector at it and lie back in a lazy boy style sofa. Total relaxation. ;)

it seems you like acer. have you thought about the h6500? its 1920x1080, 2100 lumens (which is still pretty bright), 10,000:1 contrast ratio and even a little bit better zoom at 1.2:1 and it's only $899. thats by far the cheapest 1080p projector i've seen. it came out last month.
my optoma is only 1700 lumens but it's plenty bright. i bout some room darkening curtains so i have my media room completely blacked out. also i don't have the rainbow effect with this projector. i've seen people complain about it with it. but theres gotta be ALOT on the screen going on before i notice it with this one.
since we are all on topic of huge monitors i have my 40in google tv hooked up as my secondary monitor, any ideas how i can get my games over to it to play or do i need to make it my main screen when i game?. i to have the X51 PC
