General Discussion

Diablo 3 is the fastest selling PC game of all time.

As Forbes and other sites report 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours and 6.3 million copies sold in the first week. All I have to say to that is holy %#$@. That's amazing.

Do you think any other game is going to surpass that this year or in the coming years?

Eventually something will, populations just keep growing, dunno what that game will be though.

Blizz has a huge fan base, so I am not surprised at all. Yes, I think maybe not this year, but other games will probably that number, once PC gaming becomes even more popular.

Maybe another Activition Blizzard game will surpass it. It will be a good year for the company with D3, a WoW expansion and the annual CoD sales Bob Kotick is going to be treating himself to a nice bonus.

There's one thing that really pads that number though and it really shouldn't count. They're adding in about 1.5 million copies that they gave away free with a 1 year WoW subscription. If you give it away, it's not really a sale now is it?

I don't think they added the 1.5 million to the sales, even if they did though, it's legitimate since they did buy a whole year of World of Warcraft which is like $200 right there.

I'll try to find a link but yeah they did add those in.

I'd have to disagree with you there though. Sure they spent a pile on WoW, but a lot of people were going to do that regardless. They'd either have to pull $60 per year subscriber off their WoW totals for the year, or not count those "free" copies of D3 to show things accurately, which I sincerely doubt they will.

I'm not trying to take anything from D3, I'm loving it so far; but I don't agree with the number padding they're doing on an already HUGE game.

Well since Blizzard knows how to make something good and it's a long expected game it deserves the popularity.

Through all the differences it is still perfection.

Obviously the next installment of Half-Life will surpass it (so long as it is PC release only).
