How does caching SSD work?
Waiting on my M17x R4. I ordered the 750GB HHD and 32GB SSD caching drive. How does this work exactly? Will I be able to load a game like Diablo 3 on the SSD and get better response times, or is that not how the caching SSD works?
from what I understand, Z68 chips on motherboards support SSD caching
what it does is it memorizes your most commonly used apps and saves them to the ssd, it then loads them from the ssd instead of the disk drive for faster loading

This is mostly correct... SSD caching uses Smart Response Technology SRT. There are some important things you need to know about this!!
Your hard drives will be set up in a RAID-0 configuration. If you need to reformat your drive for any reason than you will need to delete this array and rebuild it, then install the OS on this new array. It does not save applications to it rather it stores application data and stat-up iinformation for better application start-up and caching while using the application. it may also save your boot sector for windows as well. Keep inmind that it will not be "fast" right away. there is a learning process that the SSD has to go through in order to learn which apps to cache because they are used more often.
