Diablo III let down

Page 1 of 3 1 2 3
Is anyone else kinda pissed they either blew 60 bucks on this game or sold their soul to blizzard for a year? I did the sell your soul deal and when the game launched b/c i didn't have a cc on my wow account (had one on the main account but that wasn't good enough) they didn't let me get the full vsn of the game. My wife on the other had does have it and i played on her account from time to time and well.... HUGE LETDOWN I'd rather play d2 than this new crap they spit out....almost feels like duke nukem forever

Either get behind our troops or get in front of them.

I wouldn't see I blew my $60 (I actually got it for $40). It's not as good as Diablo 2 in my opinion.

Honestly, if the game launched at 1.03, I think the hatred wouldn't be so bad. People who invested so much to their characters to seem them somewhat nuked...

I am SO tired of getting booted from the server! That and the little glitch that keeps taking you back a few feet over and over and over again! Not to mention, I'm POed about not just being able to play on my own computer without having to depend on their server being up or down. :(

I'm really glad that I didn't buy and had a chance to test it out. It wasn't my type of game I guess, so I'm rather happy. =)

Certainly, there are a handful of issues, especially at launch, but I've been pretty happy with the game. Also, I really enjoy the auction house feature to finding gear upgrades. It's unlikely to ever have the impact that Diablo 2 made, but I know it's been a game that's been dominating my gaming time and will probably continue to dominate my gaming time until CS: GO comes out.

FYI Hardcore mode is what's keeping me playing it and trying to eventually getting to Hell/Inferno on Hardcore.

First off, I'm enjoying the game despite the flaws, it's just plain fun.

However, I think the biggest problem is that they designed the game around the potential to make money after everyone's initial purchase. I'll explain what I mean.

When playing, the chance to get items with the stats that your particular character uses is lower by a fair margin. I say this because I have over 20 people on my friends list, and the only way we get upgrades is by trading gear from one character to another or between us. This has been talked about heavily on the D3 forums as well.

Each patch also decreases the number of quality drops and sources for those items (barrels and pots no longer drop items, bosses and elite packs have fewer guaranteed drops, etc). This will drive up the gold cost on the AH per item. As a result of that, if an item is worth a ton of gold, people will start to try to get actual cash for them via the RMAH, to which Blizz gets a 15% cut.

Now, if you only play one character, or multiple that require the same stats, then you'll probably be driven to the AH to buy gear. If all of the good gear has migrated to the RMAH due to low drop rates, then if you want to gear up you'll be forced to pay for it, which in-turn puts cash in Blizzard's pocket.

I know that the game isn't 100% forcing people down that path, but the game is definitely taking a turn that way.

The game is great overall but for the short story and then having to play that same cheesy short story 4 more times... I did it but its not very fun when you die a billion times and then spen all your gold on the repairs..(New Update.. 60 repairs 30k+)

Indeed. It's definitely so people would use money because I seriously think no one would use 1000s of dollars for a virtual item, except that also makes the game feel more pay-to-win, which is definitely what people don't want.

That's exactly the vibe that's coming off this game more and more with each patch, and it's really unfortunately.

Blizzard better be careful or they'll lose a huge chunk of their player base to Torchlight II in Sept. Considering that a large portion of Runic is former Blizzard North staff (Diablo 1, 2 and LoD), this is very likely going to be what fans of D2 wanted D3 to be.

I didn't buy the game but I was able to get it for free. I think people are just growing away from the genre. With many of the games out right now, you have so many options. There is a good amount of content in most of these games while D3 is lacking. Even with online play, the game needs more to keep interest up. PvP would have kept the game more interesting by breaking the monotony of Inferno farming but sadly it is not ready yet.

I do agree with Sith and Alchemist that this game is going towards the pay to win path. This is why the RMAH has always been a bad idea.

Well i just don't know guys...it seems like activision has its teeth deep in this one and wants their money. I figure they would have enough w/ the halo franchise but perhaps not. Like i said though I feel this game flopped and I'd rather watch reality tv than play d3

I don't think it is a flop by any stretch. It does have the markings of a Bob Kotick game. This is the same guy who said about publishing games they should "have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million franchises".
