Alienware x51 Questions?

I'm planning to purchase the $900 x51. I have a few questions and concerns, appreciate all the help.

1. x51 has been out for a while and idk how long AW usually waits to release upgraded models, does anyone know (or think) if it'd be better to wait or if a newer model of the x51 sin't coming out anytime soon?

2. Does the x51 still have bad Wi-Fi? A lot of negativity surrounding the x51 was it's Wi-Fi, and if I bought it it would be pretty far from my router so..

3. So this can connect to my TV? I have a Vizio and I've heard that the HDMI is not good for it but to use the Mini HDMI Port instead..?

4. Overall, this will be my first gaming computer. Is it really has problematic as people say? I'd like my first purchase to run smoothly.

Hiya. The X51 had a rough start, to say the least. Issue's with the drive not taking cd/dvd's, power problems, wi-fi...but they have worked out most of the kinks by now.
I doubt there will be a newer model coming out anytime soon, but instead will concentrate on getting more adaptable graphic cards and dealing with how to do this with the X51 power restriction. (330 Watt power supply is the highest it will go right now)
As far as the WI-FI goes, you can upgrade the card in the options/selections when you build your pc.
Connecting to your tv should not be an issue, and yes, you will need HDMI as undoubtably you will want sound from the tv set. I will let someone else sound out if they have had any issues about that though.

I actually do have a real life, I just don't remember what the password to it is...

I am a owner of a X51, its the GT 545 kind, but with a better processor,

1. Im not too sure I been looking into it but IDK if they will release a upgraded model anytime soon.

2. The whole time I had my X51, I never had Bad Wi-Fi, its faster then alot of my other computers and Ipod, and phone, the only time it slowed down is when my grandmother came over and she never close her internet servers lol, but the Wi-Fi is really good and fast, at least for me it is lol, I get good download rates also, mainly from steam tho.

3. There are 2 VGA/DVI, and 1 Mini HDMI right by them, You are suppose to use the Mini HDMI, to use with the TV or monitor, the other regular HDMI are suppose to be for like Cameras so you can view your videos or pix in HD, but its not meant to be connected to a TV or monitor since it does not go into the Video card, only the Mini HDMI is hooked into the video card.

4. Its awesome, I do think this will be the best computer for you, It can run games smooth and other program's, for the price its good. Really good.

5.YOU can UPGRADE, its just might be a little difficult, one thing you need to do tho before you upgrade the video card tho is to upgrade the power, the one you get is lower, if you go to dell's website under parts, there is a upgrade to the power, its about 330W I think, and that will allow you to upgrade the Video card to a GTX 555, and so far you might be able to upgrade it to a GTX 670 I think, always double check tho.

This computer is good and balance, it has alot of power but also pretty fast, also the main thing its small, not like super small but for a gaming computer, its small, just a little bigger then the new Xbox 360, since I compare the two side by side lol.

Its worth it.

Hope this helps, but also make sure its something you will want.

I have a Wife, A son, and my daughter, so much fun it is, keeps me doing other stuff then playing ga

I've had my X51 for about 3 weeks, wi-fi issue seems resolved in newer builds (along with some of the other little issues you'll see listed). The model hasn't even been around a year yet, too soon for an R2, and yes, should be no trouble to hook up to your TV.

When your only tool is a hammer, all your problems start to look like nails.
