In a recent reddit thread that I've found on Reddit a man that will not identify himself has mentioned it.

I am telling you it will take place in Boston. Whether you believe me or not, how do you feel about a Fallout Boston?

thats cool. close to home. will have to see how its looks
Until an official press release I won't believe it. I will concede that it is highly probable though. I am still hoping for the NYC to Philly area.
So they're just gonna render current photographs ?
Fallout 3 was one of my favorite games. I don't care where Fallout 4 takes place, i will buy it.

Read the thread on Reddit. Some guy explains why it is more than likely.

One of the guys responding to the anonymous MIT employee?
Honestly there are not that many large areas of interest left in the US for them to pick. I would rule out Texas because they just did Nevada. They covered the West Coast in the first two games. There are 3 big areas left really. New England, The Mid-West (Chicago) and the Atlantic Coast (NY to NJ).
It might be in Boston and this guy is telling the truth. Unfortunately people lie in the internet and I won't believe it until I see an official press release next year at E3 :p
Hmm good clam chowder there that should be cool

That's cool. I'm always interested to see something based in Boston, especially Fallout!
Boston.... where no one knows my name!
Through all the differences it is still perfection.

Boston makes no sense at all...start in DC, go to Vegas, then Boston?
Should be somewhere in the South or Midwest.

lol, I thought the same. Although I would prefer perhaps a coastal area such as Los Angeles, or a colder environment where there are perhaps some really drastic weather effects from the fallout.

The series started in California. They reference Alaska in 3. The main character is always different so area does not matter in terms of a natural progression. Boston would make more sense than the South or the Midwest because of its role in the lore.
A map of the place in the Fallout universe. Some of the places are marked on the right denoting which game they are from. I am under the presumption that Fallout Tactics is not part of the canon so I am not sure if they will include it later on in the series.
Huge Fallout fan, I'm not really bothered which US city it is though I did enjoy that Las Vegas still stood.
I would've thought NY would've been up though
