I highly doubt they're working on a 3rd one.

Would it really shock you though? L4D2 came out really shortly after the first one. It kinda came outta nowhere and went on to be a huge seller. I have no doubt that someone, somewhere at Valve is either kicking around the idea on the drawing board or it's in active Dev and we'll see it at E3 for a Fall release.

The only reason L4D2 came out was because they couldn't add the new content into a DLC or expand the original L4D1. Since L4D2 has been released, they have been able to channel a lot of their new ideas into the game. For example, new Mutations every few weeks and even community featured campaigns show how they're expanding the game and experimenting. But the idea of a L4D3? I don't see why that's necessary. Would they introduce a new batch of survivors and more infected? I think at this point, they're better off just vastly expanding L4D2. But yeah, you're right. You never know when Valve just whips out a new sequel out of the blue. At this point, would they? I highly doubt it. They still have Portal 2 and HL3/EP3 under their belt.

It's true, with the expandability of the second one there's no real need from the player's perspective for a 3rd entry at this point but from a money making point of view you never know.

the problem is with a counter strike 3 is that call of duty is dominating the fps genre

I agree, there is so many generic fps games out or coming out; Cod Bo, BC2,
BF3, brink, homefront...

But with l4d they still have a hold on that market becasue it is so unique, and as much as I would like to see a l4d 3, there isn't much you can do that they cant do with add-ons... what would be diffrent, more zombies, maps, guns... but im pretty sure they will eventualy come up with somthing worhty of a 3rd addition to the series

I sort of hope it stops. I'd like to see the team move onto a new idea and create something even more fun or at least equally so. I can see them somehow pulling it off one way or another. When a studio (of any sort) wants more money they can manage to squeeze a sequel out of thin air sometimes haha
