Personally, I feel the game loses the thrill and scary atmosphere L4D1 emits because the maps/campaign in L4D2 become boring over time. L4D2 has more weapons, equipment and special infected(Unique zombies with special abilities).

Moreover, L4D2 has frequent updates more game modes, returning maps from L4D1 and custom map stipulations every month(Mutation mode).

For content I'd go for L4D2 but L4D1 for originality.

I recommend LFD2

The LFD2 multiplayer is really addicting and with the 4 player coop campaign me and my friends had a REALLY fun time! especially when i left them to die just so i could escape! lols good fun :)

L4D2 lost its scariness because it's a sequel. You already know what to expect. I do admit though, seeing the new special infected for the first time was quite scary. They're just annoying now.

But yeah, definitely get L4D2. Don't waste your time with L4D1 because barely anyone plays that on multiplayer.

L4D2 is still is getting updated. More people have it, and the game has more features than 1. Even so, 1 has a better atmosphere IMO. Even so, go for L4D2.

Well if you really want it settled, get L4D1, play it. Then get L4D2 and play that. Then see which one is better :)

L4D2, of course. It has more weapons, game modes, special zombies, more played nowadays, etc.

L4D2. almost all the campaigns from L4D1 have been ported over. so unless you're looking at adding custom campaigns, 2 would be the better deal

2 is more fun.... but 1 is awesome ider

L4D2 is alot of fun. If your playing on PC, there are tons of multiplayer mods that make the game so much fun. Both of the L4D games are great though. I love them both.

I wish they would just get rid of L4D1 by merging it into L4D2. I think then it would get some more play, because I do miss playing L4D1 maps/scenarios.
