I don't think it'll kill WoW, there are to many loyal fans. It possably could stop expansions but I doubt it.
is not a surprise!!

Back during the Vanilla days, if you saw someone with their T2 set, you knew they had put their time in and knew what they were doing. It was something that was recognized; now everyone and their dog has the best gear in the game. When everyone can clear a raid after a month of working at it (even those who regularly wipe in heroics) then you know you've got a problem.
What he said ....... Wow for 6 years and its just not fun anymore I used to love it when I would get The Damn you got that weapon/gear Even Arena Man Back in Burning Fricken having a 2400 arena rating was the bomb But now its like anyone can do it .
Considering my raiding guild(five separate 10 man groups) cleared out firelands inside of a week(our hardcore group) and most groups have the first 4 or 5 bosses on farm mode, the game has really been a lootfest for everyone, although heroics provide some challenges, its still pretty easy, as well as you don't feel like you've really accomplished much after, it is defiantly understandable that 300 000 players have left recently, many in my guild alone dropped the game entirely or had real life issues to deal with. the game is just too easy now, hopefully the next big patch can change that

I think if they would have kept it as hard and time consuming as vanilla was for the enitre life of WoW then a lot more people would have flunked out of college. A baby that someday cures cancer may not have been made due to desire for loot overwhelming the desire to build a strong real life relationship. The unemployment rate would be even higher. Not getting enough sleep because of the 12 hr a day High Warlord grind does affect your job performance, and supervisors do notice.
i hope you are joking :P

TBH it will take a lot more than a couple people protesting a poor update (namely cataclysm). WoW has been a giant and in all likely hood will continue being the giant that it is for years to come. The addition of playing up until lvl 20 for free along with other small things will continue to attract new players indefinitely. Blizzard had been around long enough to know how to keep its giant alive.
WoW was best in vanilla, good in TBC, okay i'll keep on playing in WOTLK and in cata its just "Neeeh"

I know exactly how you feel, personally I played since release week, I bought the game on release day when I was 11 years old, I was fortunate enough to have a guild find interest in me upon level 60, I played with them in just about every raid (this was during DKP times) and scored myself some pretty awesome gear, by the end of Vanilla I had all t2 with exceptions for t3 shoulders, t3 ring, t3 pants and t3 robes. Now, that's pretty impressive for a 12/13 year old but believe it or not, I worked hard to get my gear. (I was a Mage.)
With that said upon the release of The Burning Crusade and everyone psyched about more stuff to do and flying mounts there was one major thing that hurt myself, my guild and just about anyone who enjoyed the game, it was the scaling of Outland greens to Vanilla epics. Just about everything we all earned got switched for awful looking greens trashing just about all our work.
Many, many people quit but I was stupid enough to stay playing on our server thinking that Blizzard would do something for veteran players that would make them stand out from regular players, but besides experience and a couple of rare patterns and useless 'RP' items we didn't have anything.
Now to all the raiding; Karazhan, Gruul and Magtheridon were simple, a lot easier then bosses were in Vanilla, now what was new were raids that went from incredibly easy to insanely hard - it sucked.
By the end of The Burning Crusade I had almost full t6 without a couple of pieces that I switched for Sunwell gear, here comes Wrath of the Lich King once again scrapping my gear, this time once again upsetting just about everyone, except this time we have titles that we got to keep, and a few achievements that didn't score things well. By this point I am so ticked off that I started creating threads on the forums sharing my views with everyone while they contributed, Blizzard admins just ignored it.
I later quit with full t7.5 as best mage on the server, I never even touched Ulduar or anything after that, the game itself just made everything so easy to get it's ridiculous. Now what you have is Cataclysm that completely ruins Vanilla PvP titles by adding them back into the game. It used to be impressive to have any title above Blood Guard (note this is when it used to be fun to roll alts) I personally had Centurion, though now even the greatest noob can get it from PvP and veterans are not rewarded at all. Epics, and Rares lost all their value, PvP items are greater than some PvE items and reputation gains, achievements and all the other stuff that used to be hard to get is achievable by the greatest idiot in the World.
Does anyone here remember how hard it used to be to get Exalted with The Defilers/Alliance version? An average player can achieve it in a matter of weeks now. Or, Netherdrakes or Nether Rays? Yeah, you can get those in about a month of farming in addition to anything you normally do, even if it's 'hardcore' PvP or Pve. This is crazy.
I hope the game dies a horrible death and Blizzard learns a valuable lesson; that they have to actually work for their money.
I really miss those days.
Anything worth having is worth working hard for.

Nothing will kill WoW except for WoW. WoW will lose certain groups of players as time goes on (some competitive players and some casuals), but it will still keep huge subs even if better alternatives come out. The time WoW will die is when they close their servers. Until then, it will continue to be very popular.
