*GUIDE* -Unofficial AW fan control-
Page 1 of 2 1 2
-WARNING-
This is UNOFFICIAL Fan Control which can damage your machine if not used properly !
Be sure you know what you're doing !
USE ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK !
-

Before anything I have to clear something. The temperature control system in AW laptops is by far the best I ever seen. However these machines base their tempt control on a static table hidden within the system bios.
Those values had to be thought in a way they could work in any condition where this machines are sold, as a result sometimes those values may not be the best ones for certain conditions or places.
-
This issue can be solved by HWinfo, also one of the best temp monitoring softs around here.
You can get it here.
In order to actually control the fans follow this:
-

1.-Download and install HWinfo64 or HWinfo32 .-
2.-Execute it
3.-Select RUN in the first tiny windows.

4.-Close all the other windows until you only have this one:

5.-Click on the sensor option.
6.-Click on the small fan icon

7.-Choose what do you want to control, acording to your laptop model you'll have more or less options on this window. On this example I'll control my GPU FAN

You'll see 3 options:
-SET MANUAL it allows us to define a static speed for our fans whith a slider.
-SYSTEM AUTO it sets the temp control back as it was in its original way
-CUSTOM AUTO it allows us to define a new static table of temperature/fan speed.
Select custom auto and follow this:
On the previous windows check which GPU sensor gives us the highest reading

Select that sensor on the first dropdown menu and if its necesary select it too on the second one.
After that the table will be available to edit.
You can modify the fan speeds in order to make them work faster or slower at a desired temperature or modify the temps so the fans start running faster at a lower temp.-
Use this tool with caution.-

Very nice guide, keep on going!
It's also a very clear and simple guide so that everyone can understand (atleast I do =))

Necessary thing. Respect to author.
My favorite signature is probably the one that's quoting me.

Damn BlazeGhost, you just making all these amazing hardware threads. Good job on this and the AMD driver one. If I had an Alienware, I'd follow your instructions. Unfortunately, I cannot. It looks really simple and basic but beneficial. Did people start bothering you about fan control and that's why you made this?

Yes hahaa, thats the exact reason why I did it, althought it doesn't bother me when people ask me for help.
I had explained this process way too many times in my PMs. Now I only have to copy the threads link and I'm done.
PS: Thanks again for tha anime name, if I weren't too lazy I would have my anime image sign in every post too.

You the Hardware expert here man. Anyone who needs help with hardware, definitely directing them to you. I hope the admins sticky the two new ones you did.
No problem about the anime. Hopefully you like it. It might be too obscene for you as many people don't like that type of anime. Ah well, I'm definitely not posting that picture in my posts anymore because it was annoying a couple of members. Post on my Wall or PM me if you got other anime questions.
so this is pretty sweet haha

Could i boost the CPU fan with this program? And if so, what should i put for the cores? (Alienware M14x).
Thanx Blaze :D You're blazing :D If there was a rep button, i'd add 1+ a long time ago :D Oh, also, when i was viewing the images, there was a wind power commercial and i though it was funny because we are talking about fans :D

I have an Alienware m11x R2 for almost a year and I keep it as cool as I can since I like to take care of the stuff I buy. Yet I let my girlfriend use it and she plays IMVU for hours on end and I find it feeling super hot and ever since then it get hot even while just on the internet and I don't want it killing out on me just yet. I never hear the fans kick in loud either so I downloaded this and just kick it to 6500 manually till my laptop cools down. I'm sure letting it run at that speed for an extended period could kill my fan so I stop it once it is cooled down. I'd rather not have to do this every time it gets hot so I wanted to know what I should set the Custom Auto at. Thanks.
So I downloaded this and now I'm to scared to mess with it all the warnings about knowing what you are doing has got me cowering like a school girl. Great info though i'm sure i'll suck it up and try it out lol
thanks Blaze. it way better then softwave that i using now.
