ARP Leaderboard Statistics - November '11
Here is the original thread in October.
_______________________________________________________

Activity Analysis:
Activity Legend:
Very Active = <1 day
Active = 2-6 days
Inactive = 1-2 weeks
Very Inactive = 3-4 weeks
Dead = > 1 month
Note: Activity is measured by last 10 posts on forums.
The numbers are just about the same with last month. About 40% is dead and only 30% is active. Not surprised.
Major flaw: My definition of activity is very strict and subjective, revolving around simply forum posts. Activity of other sorts are ignored for the other activities do not demonstrate community benefit. Also, activity was measured at the end of November at a certain time. Inactive people may just have happened to post a lot when I recorded it and/or active people were not online at the time.

Memfisto's Request of Dead Users
Dead Users Analysis:
Many of these users are veterans. It's a shame that they stopped posting here. Do note that even if they had Monthly ARP, I would still consider them dead users based on what the majority of their last activity was. "Win" column is how many times this person won the Sweepstakes. "Last Activity" column is measured in days since their last post.
Major flaw: Obviously these dead users can out of the blue start posting again. It is very rare. Even if they did make one post, I would still consider them dead. They would have to make at least 10 posts to be considered not dead.

Monthly ARP Analysis:
The number of people who have no monthly ARP is about equal to the number of people who capped. I found that pretty interesting. About 60% earn less than 44 Monthly ARP. Not much competition in the Sweepstakes (USA/Canada) among the leaderboard. These statistics do give you an idea on how much ARP the leaderboard increases monthly. The leaderboard generated at least a total of 8,314 ARP. Funny enough, capped users make 58% of this total. Remember that these are only leaderboard capped users and they represent 16% of the leaderboard. Therefore, 16% of the leaderboard is generating the most content for the community compared to content generated by the rest of the leaderboard. This obviously assumes each capped user has been posting valuable things.
Note: Found the missing person's ARP even if he decided not to tell me. Also, if you're wondering why the data always has a total of 99 members, it's because 1 member on the leaderboard is the Admin account that posts the videos.
Major flaw: This data is only for the leaderboard. There are numerous other members not on the leaderboard who have capped or a substantial amount of Monthly ARP. I cannot record all the members not on the leaderboard. The vast amount of data would make my head explode. The admins have that type of data though but I'm sure they won't release it.

Level Analysis:
About 80% of the leaderboard hit the Level 5 benchmark. It is rather helpful to see how many dead users there are for each Level. Interestingly enough, about 44% of the Level 5 users are dead. More than half of the Level 4 users are dead. This shows how fairly easy it is to get on the leaderboard.
Major flaw: The breakdown of activity for each Level was based on my Activity metric, which is very subjective.

Winners Analysis:
Decided it was time to link those winners. If you are curious on who some of these people are, feel free to click their names. I won't make any conclusions specifically about them, just know Sweepstakes' winners are indeed random. I believe linking these profiles are allowed because the only thing I do is make it more convenient to find them. You can find any user on the Arena by simply using Google. Here are some things I found, 1 of the winners is a repeat winner and only 3 of the winners are in the leaderboard. Currently, the Sweepstakes leaderboard winners account for 33% of all the Sweepstakes winners.
Major flaw: I clearly can't go decipher the ARP system and calculate odds of any sorts. I can attempt to but by doing that, I doubt it would be accurate. Also, it would defeat the purpose of it being random. Finally, the system can just be changed to completely destroy what I calculated.

Going Forward:
If these results are a trend, I can make a few future predictions of the leaderboard.
1. There are only 18 Level 4 users and 11 of them are dead. By the end of December, there will be no more Level 4 users. Everyone will be Level 5, making the Level 5 Digital Reward not worth much. The dead Level 4 users should be wiped clean from the leaderboard.
2. By simply capping for 3 months, you will most probably be on the leaderboard. This shows that most people don't stay here long and overall, the community is not very active.
3. Based on what Diesel said, if the ARP requirements for each Level is constant, 6 of the Level 7 users are actually at a theoretical Level 8 and 3 are at a theoretical Level 9. That's cool.

Interesting Tidbit:
All of the top 10 users capped. I guess that means they don't want to give up their spots.

Feedback welcome. If you are curious about other calculations, let me know.

Nope, I don't do something like this for a living. I just occasionally like to run basic analysis of data.
Here's the thing, when the cap reset that night, people who didn't gain ARP right after the reset still had their November Monthly ARP appear. I used that to my advantage to record the Monthly ARP of the leaderboard. However, those who posted around the time of the cap, their Monthly ARP now showed December. I was working as fast as possible but a few people I couldn't get a chance to record. Therefore, to be as exact as possible, I asked them each individually to tell me. Some of them responded. One didn't but I found how much he bid on the sweepstakes. The one I mentioned above did not bother to respond to me. And nope, it's not you. I already knew that you capped a long time ago.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I will edit it later today as I have come to more conclusions. As cool as it is, this type of data is fairly easy. The only problem is for someone to actually take the time to record and analyze it.
