RIFT Online Tactics - Dominate The Competition

The Battle of Port Scion

"PvE never looked so deadly."

The Battle for Port Scion is a 20 vs. 20 Conquest Warfront. Although quite different than the other Warfronts, the victory conditions remain very similar. The first team to 1,000 points or the team with the most points after 40 minutes will win the Warfront. Additionally, killing the enemy commander will result in an instant team win. This guide will focus on how the different methods to achieve victory for your team in Port Scion.
The Battlefield

This unique Warfront will often be won by the faction that controls the bridge’s spawning location and is the most efficient at running Sourcestone back to their commander. But learning about the other paths to victory will be important when Plan A doesn’t work out.

Points of Interest

The Bridge (Neutral Graveyard)
The primary pathway to The Cathedral (and it’s Sourcestones), The Bridge plays a significant role in determining which faction can control The Cathedral’s Sourcestones. The first priority for each faction will be to gain control of The Bridge in order to secure the nearest spawning location possible to The Cathedral.

The Cathedral (3 Sourcestones)
Controlling The Cathedral and running its three piece of Sourcestone back to your commander is the primary path to victory. Each piece of Sourcestone that you return will give your team 30 points and also applies a stacking buff that will reduce the damage you take by 1% and increase the damage you deal by 1%.

After gaining control of The Bridge, clearing The Cathedrals of NPCs is your next priority. With the NPCs out of the way, you will be free to begin running Sourcestones to your commander.

The Southern Sourcestone
A single Sourcestone location sits at the southern edge of the map. Guarded by NPCs, the effort to clear out the NPCs and defend the area from the opposing faction makes this Sourcestone location unappealing to most teams. You should only consider trying to run the Sourcestone from this location if the opposing faction has already cleared the NPCs or if the match is extremely close and the extra points will make the difference.

Faction Commanders
If the enemy faction controls The Bridge and you are unable to wrest control of The Bridge away from there, victory is still viable if you can kill their faction commander. A nearly impossible task without first destroying the enemy faction’s defensive structures; any plan to kill the opposing team’s faction commander will need to include destroying the enemy’s defensive structures.

Defensive Structures
Destroying the enemy’s defensive structures will get you 100 points and weaken the enemy’s commander. Although a significant point value, there are many obstacles in your way if you should try to destroy an enemy’s defensive structure.

1) The enemy can heal their defensive structures.

2) NPCs around the structure.

3) A warning will go out to the enemy team when their structure is under attack.

Repeatable Quests
The four repeatable quests will spawn additional NPCs that will fight for your side. Although, not a significant impact on the battlefield, the side quests themselves are easy enough that completing them will not take too much effort and will aid your faction, however little it may be.

The four repeatable quests are:

1) Kill 10 Endless Court NPCs

2) Kill 10 enemy NPCs

3) Collect 6 relics of Port Scion (found throughout the Warfront)

4) Kill an elite NPC in The Cathedral

Conclusion

The many methods to gain points for your faction and influence the battlefield provide teams alternatives to the standard path to victory (controlling The Bridge & The Cathedral) in The Battle of Port Scion. Learning the numerous aspects to this Warfront will give you the edge in finding different ways to help your team in achieving victory.
