RIFT Online Tactics - Dominate The Competition

King's Breach (Expert Mode)

"Why would someone build a room where spikes come out of the floor?"

With 6 different bosses, Iron Tomb is one of the more lengthy dungeons available in RIFT. But with simple boss mechanics and a knowledgeable party, it can be completed quickly and efficiently.

Hunter Suleng

Before you can face Hunter Suleng, you will need to close the Life Rift in the center of the area. In order to close the Lift Rift, you will need to kill the three Jadescaled Lifewardens positioned on platforms around the room.

After you’ve closed the Lift Rift, Hunter Suleng should be available for you to fight. These are the abilities Hunter Suleng has you should know before beginning the encounter.

Unstable Radiation

A close range area of effect (AOE) attack that will do a moderate amount of damage to those near Hunter Suleng. This can be healed through as long as ranged DPS and healers stay outside of Unstable Radiation’s range.

Summon Pet Wolves
Every so often Hunter Suleng will summon two wolves that will need to be picked up by the tank as they usually will run right at the healer. Once the tank has picked up the wolves, they need to be focused on by the DPS before returning to the boss.

Ravalos

A very simple tank and spank boss fight with really only one mechanic to worry about. Ravalos will place a large circle under a random player. Those under the circle will be slowed and take substantial damage over time. It will be important to move out of those circles as quickly as possible in order to make your healer’s job as easy as possible.

The Manticore Sentries

In order to unlock the Maticore Sentries, you will need to destroy the three death beacons located throughout the dungeon. Occasionally, the death beacons will spawn a Putrid Graveleech that needs to be picked up by the tank as soon as possible. Once the Putrid Graveleech is down, you can finish destroying the death beacon.

After destroying the three death beacons, the two Manticore Sentries will be released.

Soulflayer Mondrach
A spellcaster that will focus its damage on the tank, but it will sometimes cast damage over time (DOT) effects on a random party member. The DOT effect can and should be dispelled.

Flesheater Autoch
The more dangerous of the pair, Flesheater Autoch will charge a random party member that deals a significant amount of damage and places a DOT them. Healers will need to watch out for the charge and be ready to use their best healing spells for those charges.

The best strategy for this encounter is to DPS down one of the Manticores as quickly as possible. The choice is up to the group and what abilities your group wants to avoid the most.

Shadehorror Phantasm

When both Manticore Sentires are dead, your group should move away from their corpses because Shadehorror Phantasm will spawn at their location. Although, an easier encounter than the Manticore Sentries, there are a few abilities you will want to watch out for:

Void Storm
Shadehorror Phantasm will put a strong DOT effect on the entire party. This can and should be dispelled as quickly as possible to minimize the damage.

Summon Wounding Shade
Every so often, Shadehorror Phantasm will become invulnerable and summon a Wounding Shade for each party member that is still alive. The tank will need to pick up the Wounding Shades and DPS will need to kill them with AOE spells. But be careful, when a Wounding Shade dies, it will do AOE damage to those around it.

Konstantin

One of the more interesting boss fights you’ll find in RIFT. During the fight, spikes will come out of the floor and walls. If you are hit by the spikes you will take damage and get knocked into the air. There are two methods to avoid getting hit by the spikes.

1) The ground where spikes will be coming out of will glow prior to the spikes coming out. Pay attention anmove out of those areas before the spikes come to avoid the damage.

2) Spikes will never come out of the same sections twice in a row. After a spike comes out of an area, move to that location and know you won’t be spiked on the next wave.

Additionally, Konstantin will sometimes cast Fury. This will make him move slower than usual, but he will do massive AOE damage to the tank and any melee DPS in his area. During this period, melee characters will need to run away from him until his Fury ends. Luckily, the spikes are disabled during this period and shouldn’t cause you any problems until Fury ends.

King’s Breach is one of the more challenging dungeons to face in expert mode, but dealing with each encounter becomes easier if you know what to expect and how to counter each obstacle.
