Man where do I start... Jeff "Big Frog" Curran laid down a hell of a fight on saturday and I couldn't be more proud to have him as my coach and friend. Everyone says that Jeff is a BJJ fighter and likes to fight off his back but boy oh boy let me tell you... this fight didn't touch the ground once! Jeff's opponent David Love was no joke son... he came out looking to F-I-G-H-T!!! First round was close but I edged it to Jeff, the second round Jeff starts to open up and take control, but then at the beginning of the third round Jeff looked like he suffered a break in his right arm. Now I aint one to worry but if this fight got stopped due to the injury it would have pretty much put an end to any comeback Jeff was planning on... My heart stopped. I never wanted anyone to win so bad in my life as I felt for Jeffy that night. This is where the craziness starts... my man Jeff squares up and gets back into the fight and I would be lying if I said I thought Jeff was gonna pull this out... there was a lot of time left in the round and David Love was throwing bombs. Jeff could barley keep his arm up to defend. All of a sudden it's like a switch goes off and Jeff starts stalkin Love down with only his left lead arm! LOL the crowd was going wild and Jeff just start picking Love apart and even threw his right hand a few times for good measure! At the end of the fight people were on their feet and some were in tears... I'm proud of my friend and coach. This fight was not aired on TV so only the live audience got to witness this fight. But through the power of Alienware we are bringing it to ya exclusively here with Jeff himself talking us through the fight highlights and final third round... Enjoy!
PS. I felt like a proud big brother watchin Felice Herrig do her thing that night as well!

Well, this was my first fight with my new gym, Currans, and my new mma coach, Jeff Curran. I was pretty excited and pretty nervous. The guys at the gym are really like a family and have gone out of their way to help me. And Im the first female mma fighter at the gym. so I really wanted to make them all proud of me and didn't want to disappoint them. For the first time I really felt like I had a team and teammates and coaches who had my back. It was a good feeling. I won my fight this weekend with a first round submission armbar. so yeah I don't think I disappointed anyone.
I was the Co-main event and Jeff was the main event, so after my first round submission I got to watch Jeff's fight...and Damn was it a great fight. It was truly inspirational. He put my fight to shame and stole the show...damn him ;) No but I was truly proud to say that he was my coach. It looked like he broke his arm in the third round and went on to finish the fight, trading blows toe for toe. It was amazing.
I think there are so many coaches out there these days who have never really experienced the fight game. They haven't walked in a fighters shoes. Jeff's done it all. He has really helped pave the way for the sport and especially for the guys in the midwest. He's competed in boxing, mma, jiu jitsu tournaments. Fought on big cards, overseas....and on top of that he runs one of the best gyms in the country. I don't know how he juggles it all, but somehow the Big Frog manages. I have a hard time just finding time to train and brush my teeth in the morning, let alone run a gym, train fighters, and still have time to train and fight myself. Oh yeah and hes a father and husband...sheesh. I feel pretty proud and honored to call him my coach.
Watch this fight and tell me that your not truly amazed and inspired
Heart of a lion in a Big Frogs body I guess. Many would of probably given up thinking their opponent would have capitalized on the injured arm. A never back down, never say die attitude was great to see in Jeff. Didnt take to long for Jeff to read David. Even with the injured arm rushing in for quick combos, and out before David could put out anything. Big Frog is quick lol.
Even with an injury to the arm, Ive seen more heart in this fight than some other fights that have been perfect health and everything else. They need more fights like this, and Felice's fight. An all out brawl from start to finish. Leave everything you have inside the cage. Good job, great fight. Congratz Big Frog.
