PC gaming explodes in Alienware Arena with new Counter-Strike: Source Detonation Tournament sponsored by Samsung
Gamers to compete for a share of $5,000 in cash prizes
San Jose, Calif., September 21, 2010 – Alienware Arena launched today the Samsung SSD Counter-Strike: Source Detonation Tournament, the second in a series of online PC gaming competitions sponsored by Samsung and Alienware™, Dell's premier PC gaming brand representing premium power and performance for gamers and technology enthusiasts alike.
As teams of five players, gamers will go head-to-head in virtual environments as they take turns protecting key points from detonation in the game Counter-Strike: Source (for PC). Success requires players to execute complex team strategy, efficient intercommunication and tremendous personal skill, making the title one of the world's most competitive and popular video-game titles.
Top performing teams in the tournament will win a share of $5,000 in total cash prizes sponsored by Samsung and Alienware.
“We’re pleased to join with Alienware in co-sponsoring these intense head-to-head gaming contests, which not only promote healthy competition, but also get the word out about premium power and performance with regard to solid state drives,” said Steve Weinger, Director, Flash Marketing, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.
Gamers can register their teams for the online competition now until Sunday, October 10, with play scheduled to happen twice per week from Monday, October 11 through Monday, December 13. Registration is free and open to select residents of the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec).
