Introducing Arena Reward Points (ARP)

We're very excited to introduce Arena Reward Points (ARP)!
For your participation in Alienware Arena, you now earn ARP that contributes towards rewards from Alienware and our partners. All members can earn Digital Rewards and members in North America can also enter their ARP into Monthly Reward Sweepstakes.
Get involved, ARP are generating now from activities ranging from posting comments, to updating your profile, to participating in events, and much more. You never lose your ARP, even from entering the points into sweepstakes; ARP only goes up over time to include even better rewards.
December's featured Monthly Reward Sweepstakes prizes include Alienware TactX keyboards, copies of WoW: Cataclysm, Dell.com $50 Gift Cards, and the featured grand prize of GUNNAR PPK Gloss Onyx advanced gaming eyewear.

especially when you can tell a lot of people are purposely doing useless things to get these points.
I mean it's one thing to capitalize on the reward system, but some people are going overboard. (multi threads/friend requests/chatposts)
+1 for the monthly cap, or else this place would be so full of spam.

You bring up a good point. However, if you make it very stringent, it wouldn't motivate anyone to actually try to gain any points, causing the reward system to be pointless. Obviously there will be some people who will try to get as many points as possible, that's just how competition works. I agree that there will be a lot of spam because of this system but that doesn't mean everything will be spam. I'm sure there will be actual genuine threads and posts that will stir up real discussions.
