Rocket League will be free for the Chinese market

Rocket League becomes a free-to-play game! Is the news that sounds sensationalistic, and is true only in a limited context. Namely, Rocket League will really get its free version, but only for the Chinese market. For the distribution of the game, the Chinese giant Tencent took care of, which means that the F2P version will be exclusive to their WeGame platform.

It is unclear how much of the content will be available without any fees, which the Chinese will pay for. In any case, the biggest question in the whole situation is whether the F2P players will be separated from the rest or we`ll be able to meet them in multiplayer. There is a great chance that the Chinese market will be separate because it is not as if Rocket League needs players - yesterday, however, it is been learned that the game played over 30 million people.

It is clear if will be cross-network between others or a closed one only for that platform?

This is huge. The Rocket League eSports scene is currently dominated by EU and NA but imagine the competition in an year or two. This is really exciting. Hopefully we can all play in the same servers whether it's a f2p version or a paid one. The growth of the community is always welcome.

It will probably be a closed/separate server, IIRC there is some chinese legislation that enforces separation (directly or indirectly).
