Telltale used a photo of a murdered Russian diplomat for its Batman game

Telltale Development Studio this week launched the second episode of second season Batman: The Enemy Within. The episode alone offered some interesting complications, but all of them overshadowed a very amateur move because of which Telltale could get harmed.

Namely, in one of the pictures in the game the actual photo of the killed person was inserted. In the 12th month last year, Russian diplomat Andrei Karlov was killed at the opening of the art gallery, and photo of his corpse Telltale used to portray a crime scene in which two security guards were killed.

Telltale has not yet spoken about this controversy, but surely they're already working on removing the controversial image. It remains to be seen whether the author of the photograph will seek compensation and whether Karlov's family will prosecute Telltale because of this slip.

Well, it could also be interpreted as a solemn homage...

It is kind of a weird way to do it though. Without permission though it's an issue because they don't own the rights to the image and were not using it under fair use either. I looked at it and the similarities are rather striking.

It can be seen as a blasphemy to the dead.
Therefore, this should be avoided.

They probably just typed "dead body" in google and picked first picture, without even looking what's the source, never thinking they'll get something else than just some stock photo.
