Final Fantasy VII Remake is progressing well, says Square Enix

Final Fantasy VII Remake director Tetsuya Nomura has moved to clear up misinformation surrounding the game, which has lead to speculation that the game isn't even in development yet.

Speaking with Famitsu magazine (via Siliconera), Nomura-san clarified that previous comments about Kingdom Hearts 3 being the 'focus' for the time being is from a PR perspective, not a development one. In other words, Final Fantasy VII Remake still chugging along just fine. Well, if fine means three-and-a-half years after its announcement, that is.

'There’s been some misinformation regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake in some parts of the Internet so I wanted to touch up on that a little,' said Nomura.

'That [speculation] is not official. As I said during E3, development is going favourably. I just wanted to say that the current PR priority is Kingdom Hearts III [...] but after that it’ll be Final Fantasy VII Remake, so please don’t worry.'

Square Enix has previously said that it is looking at the possibility of revisiting other games in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, although nothing has been set in stone at this point.
