FPS loss / stutter with laptop lid closed

FPS loss / stutter with laptop lid closed

My setup is below.  Basically, if I'm gaming and I have the lid of my laptop closed, I lose FPS or I get a strange stutter that is not FPS loss. I didn't have this problem until I had to restore windows about 2 weeks ago.  I have made sure the Intel card is not trying to run the games, it's the GTX1080ti in the graphics amplifier.  I'm currently running:

Alienware 17r4, 16GB RAM, 256SSD, GTX1070 built in, GTX1080ti in the graphics amplifier.

Anyone have a resolution to this? It's a bit annoying.  I've discovered that I can restart the system with the lid closed to SEEMINGLY get rid of the issue, but as soon as I try to stream or record with the lid closed, it comes back. Basically, the lid must be left open and running as and extended 2nd monitor to get things running properly.. I never had to do this before.

Did you already set all advanced power options in the control panel?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did. It's on high performance. Is there something else I should set?

Set the option in Advanced Power Settings in windows control panel for lid close action to do nothing while on Power.
